Re: new Raleigh pick up
I like that spider!
I donno, I don't like thinking of them as future bees. I personally like all the morphs separately in their own glory. And I adore spiders and pastels themselves more than bees.
:]

Re: new Raleigh pick up
Maybe you should have refered to it as a future spider, pastel, bee project.:gj:

Re: new Raleigh pick up
Well I guess that's what I should have said. Where the pics of the two hot pastel girls you brought home Frankie.

Re: new Raleigh pick up
Christy has the camera in Seattle!!! I will get some up as soon as she gets home, tomorrow at 1, can't wait to see her. They are nice and warm in their hides. By the way...The little forced fed girls ate on her own today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: new Raleigh pick up
I bet you had to cross your legs to keep from wetting your self!!!
I went to feed the rest of the little ones last night so I stuck one in with the new ones and the pastel girl slammed the rat pup. The spider wasn't ready.

Re: new Raleigh pick up
I fed my 4 Daytona pick ups today also. All took right away except for the pinstripe boy. It took him a couple hours to get interested but he finally took. I'll let my 2 new ones settle in a few more days before trying them.

Re: new Raleigh pick up
Nice Pick ups!! We were at the Raleigh show too and I am pretty sure we Saw you FatBoy but you were on the way out the door and we were on the way in and we didn't want to seem like stalkers.

Re: new Raleigh pick up
HAHA...Yep we were there. Show was OK but not as good as the last couple of years. Ben had some really nice stuff there. That was Todd and Dwayne (roosterman) with me. Wish we would have gotten to meet you, I like putting faces with names on here. Hope you had a good time at the show. Did you get anything?

Re: new Raleigh pick up
Yea, my room mate and I each got a new snake a piece, there is a thread a little down in the Picture subforum where we got a bit carried away with the 'quick' photoshoot before we put everyone away. I only recognized you because of your shirt, and by the time I realized where I had seen that logo before you were out the door. We haven't been in to ball pythons for too long, and this was only our second August edition of the show so we don't really have much to compare to. Next year we are hoping to go to Daytona though, which I have no doubt will blow this show out of the water. Maybe we will see you if you go to the Spring show.

Re: new Raleigh pick up
Imagine Raleigh X 100 and you will get a mental picture of Daytona!!! I have been for the last 2 years and it has blown me away each time. I usually go to all the Raleigh shows, Columbia, and some small shows in VA & MD. We enjoy ths trips and meeting new people and seeing all the snakes. I saw your snakes in the thread below...they look really nice. I picked up a couple of pastel girls in Raleigh and got a mojave boy, pinstripe boy, and a pair of spiders in Daytona. Our next show willo be the Mid-Atlantic in MD September 13-14.

Re: new Raleigh pick up
Wow, that is really exciting. So far we have only ever been to the Raleigh show, though we have been to four of those so far. Sounds like you got a lot of really cool stuff over the past few weeks. This was the first time we bought any visual morphs at a show. So far all of our visuals had come from internet purchases. This May was the first time we were really looking for specific things. I was personally a bit surprised at the selection at the Raleigh show, since I know it is a smaller show and there was plenty of what we were looking for. It probably helps that we were looking at lower end things, but mostly I was surprised that I saw male Pastels, Mojos, and Butters all get for hypo. Since I was looking for a codom male het hypo I was pleased.

Re: new Raleigh pick up
Sounds like you are starting a nice little collection. What part of NC are you from, I am towards the coast, Bladen County.

Re: new Raleigh pick up
Right now I am a pre-veterinary student at NCSU but I am from the mountains around Boone, so the opposite direction from you.

Re: new Raleigh pick up
COOL...You will see reptiles when you open your practice right! LOL We have NO vets in our area that will see our snakes. We haven't needed one yet but have looked just in case. By the way, I am a Tar Heel fan!!
-
Re: new Raleigh pick up
I would like to see as many small exotics (snakes, lizards, amphibians, small mammals, etc) as possible.
...All I have to say to the Tar Heel bit is ughhhh I am required by law to hate Caroline Blue. :P

Re: new Raleigh pick up
I'll let you by with that one...GO HEELS !! LOL. I talked to Celia with Exotics by Nature one time and she said they took their sick snakes to LSU's vet department and they treated them as experience for the students. I called NCSU and asked them if they would do something like that and they said no. I have been told yall have the best vet program in the USA. Can you check on this for me and let me know?
-
Re: new Raleigh pick up
I am still a pre veterinary student, so I am still an undergrad and am just applying to the Vet School this fall. I know students do rotations at the NCSU Vet Hospital as part of their schooling, but beyond that I don't know. There is a herp and avian specialty vet in the Raleigh area though. They always have a booth at the show and I have taken some fecals there before.
-
Re: new Raleigh pick up
I was wondering about the school because Celia said LSU sees their snake fro free, as experience for the students. Just wondering why NCSU would not do the same. I guess I'm just cheap.
-
Re: new Raleigh pick up
I don't know much about that, except that the clinic at NCSU is a lot like any other veterinary clinic, just with more resources and vets and whatnot. It might not be financially feasible for them to see animals for free, or they might already have someone else who brings in reptiles, it could be a lot of different things.
