The odds were finally on my side...
Up untill now my ball python breeding has not gone very well. Last season I was going for mostly hets and most of the babies ended up being males. In the few het x het clutches I had last year I ended up either hitting no visuals or having the female slug out. This year did not start much better. So far I have had 12 lesser to normal eggs hatch and I have a whopping 1 lesser to show for it (the odds of having luck this bad must be insane). Today I finally came out on the good side. From a clutch of 8 het caramel to het caramel eggs. I hit 3 caramels. This is the first one out. A male that I think is pretty freaking nice (I may be a bit biased). The hets were purchased from John Piro.

That is actually 1 for 12 this year. I still have one lesser x lesser clutch due in a little over a month so I should at least get a few lessers out of that but lessers are not really what I am interested in for that clutch...

Sweet baby! You deserves some better odds, John, you really got a smack down on those lessers so far.

Caramels are one of my favorite morphs (and an ingredient for my most favorite morph - the Caramel Glow) so I'm looking forward to getting a het pair of them myself hopefully next year.

This guy will hopefully be making double hets for caramel glow this season. I've got a nice hypo female ready and waiting for him to grow up a bit. The caramel glows are also one of my favorites. Probably #2 behind the dreamsicles.

All three (2.1) are now out and no kinks in any of them. I was really scared about that. I incubated them a little cooler (87 degrees) and used the no substrate method to keep them from being in contact with any water. Don't really know if that helped or if I just got lucky but I'll take it. All three look almost identical color wise. I was worried these guys would end up not having much of the purplish color and end up being the more browish type but it looks like I was wrong.
