OMG! 1st Leo Eggie Clutch Hatched!!!
My Sunglow babies are here!!! First only one was running around in the container, and the other had only his head sticking out. As soon as I picked up up the container to move them upstairs, he literally burst out of his egg and went crazy!!! They are so tiny and cool and I was acting like a totally effin lunatic, I was so excited. :D :P The first pair of Blizzard eggs were laid on the same day so who knows, they could make their arrival today as well. Here's the pictures!!

Congrats on the nice looking babies.

Re: OMG! 1st Leo Eggie Clutch Hatched!!!
How flippin cute are those lil buggers! wow just darling! :gj::)
....on a side note, it has always amazed me about how large lizards look once they emerge from their eggs. Like its hard to imagine those geckos came out of those little eggs. I sometime feel the opposite with snakes...like the snakes should be larger for how big the eggs are. :)

Nice little sunglows! Congrats on the first clutch and hatch.
What day did they hatch on? Just wondering cause I've got my first group of eggs cooking and they're on day 35 I believe.

Re: OMG! 1st Leo Eggie Clutch Hatched!!!
Oooh I dropped the ball... Thanks Mel! The Blizzies are killin me with the wait... Charlie I know you do, but srsly you need to get on the ball and bring those rats over ok!!! Justin you should absolutely, but beware bc these things are as addictive as snakes. I literally have three shipments in a two week time period. How's that for a fix? Jo, if you think those are your favorite morphs, you're going to bounce off the walls tomorrow when I post pictures of the two engimas that are arriving, truth. :gj:

Probably not, and they probably won't mind the thousands of crickets, mealies, and roaches?

Now that they will mind..LOL. Mealies are easy though.. There will not be any roaches though...They can live pretty well on mealies right, or do they need crickets too?

Yeah mealies are fine. When I kept and bred mine, I fed them roaches and mealies, with the occasional pinky mouse for adult females.
I preferred the roached to the mealies because they were softer bodied for the leos to digest, and are EASY to gutload.

The only problem with roaches is the fact that my mom can't stand them, and to be honest I don't like them either..lol.
So mealies for a staple diet with the occasional feeding of crickets and a pinkie mouse?

That'd work. You wouldn't even need the occasional crickets.;)
Now back to the regularly scheduled thread! Sorry Amy!!:P

Re: OMG! 1st Leo Eggie Clutch Hatched!!!
I am looking at breeding Dubias. Just trying to figure out the best place to buy a starter colony and also whether hatchlings can eat the smallest roach nymphs.

Re: OMG! 1st Leo Eggie Clutch Hatched!!!

I was breeding the Orange Head Roaches (Eublaberus prosticus), the advantage to them is that they can't climb or fly, and they DID breed like crazy.
I bought them from here:

Cool! From what I see, Blaptica Dubia can't climb or fly either. We are breeding mealworms as well which is going well. Lots of beetle love going on!
-
Re: OMG! 1st Leo Eggie Clutch Hatched!!!
Those babies are sweet! I miss leo babies sooo much!
I recommend blaptica dubia although it takes longer to get a colony of them established than it does some of the other species. You really need to set them up and let them breed for several months before you start feeding them off (unless it is just a few at a time). After that they'll be established and you'll be golden. The nymphs are small enough for baby leos to eat.

Re: OMG! 1st Leo Eggie Clutch Hatched!!!
I told Jamie the roach thing is all cool w/ me... As long as I don't have to be involved with it. I just can't handle it. I might become comfortable w/ it after a while, like I did w/ the mealies, but roaches just give me the creeps. So rock that out Jamies!! :gj: Thanks for the comments guys!! These guys are so feisty and cute!
