Re: YB x Granite Clutch Cut
The eggie right next to the accurite looks like it's going to be a stunner. Good luck - can't wait to see them hatch!

Re: YB x Granite Clutch Cut
Do all offspring from granites have some speckling making granite a dom gene?
Re: YB x Granite Clutch Cut
Nice looking babies. Cant wait to see how they look out of the egg. Hows that wireless thermometer working? I was thinking of getting some of them and trying them out. I ended up just using the ones with the probe.

There seem to be several different lines of Granites that are genetic.... and from what I have seen (The ones I have seen) they are a co-dom because they produce a super.
It's also possible (I think) that some of the speckling we see is just that....
Looking forward to seeing these little monsters hatch!! :)
Re: YB x Granite Clutch Cut
Congrats Beccky. They look great in the egg, and I can only imagine they will look just as stellar once they are out. C'MON hatchlings, crawl out.
Re: YB x Granite Clutch Cut
I'm such a slacker!!! Congrats Becky! I'm not sure if I'd be ready to deal with the little devils ;)
Updates?!

Thanks Scott.
Re: YB x Granite Clutch Cut
They're wiggling around a bit more, but no breathing just yet. They were incubated a bit lower, generally 87-88, so they will likely be 65 days or so. I'm ready to see what they look like :)
And why, when you cut eggs, do they get that white film on top of the albumin? I've been putting a latex glove on and scraping it off with my finger, and replacing the fluid with lukewarm water. I figure it's bacteria from the blood vessels breaking, but I didn't think it would hurt to ask.

Darn. When I saw you had posted to this thread I thought there was going to be more pics!
Is it possible the film is just a dried out layer?
Re: YB x Granite Clutch Cut
Doesn't look to be a film where it's drying out. I've just been wiping it off and replacing the lost fluid with fresh, lukewarm water. They don't seem to be having problems with this. Just wish they'd hurry up and suck up that yolk and come out!
I got to look at them closer today and two have nice high speckled sides. It's neat. One has a busy belly, which is odd, since all the granites from this female's last clutch all had clear bellies(all 4 girls too).
