is that really the hemi-penes? I've never heard of them hangin out like that! Is it very common?

Are all the snakes everted at this stage? AKA the females as well, or is it merely an absence of hemipenes means female?
And how do you keep the bacteria growth in check? Is it a matter of keeping the seal tight and the cut small?
