On the trip home from the Orlando FIRE show I received a call from the building owner where my warehouse is. I right away go SHIP what got out?:) He said Neil I'm here with the North Royalton Police Department and I thought to my elf "AHSSSSSHAT, WHAT GOT OUT" (followed by many small heart palpation's).

Phil put the officer on the phone and he asked me if I was the owner a white cargo van parked in the rear of the lot I told him that I was and he proceeded to tell me that apparently some kids felt the need to totally destroy several vehicles left behind the building for the weekend. He took some info from me and these are some of the pictures that I took once I got back.

Beyond my van they also destroyed the old blue plow truck in the 2nd photo and next door to me is a Train air and heating office. One of their cargo vans parked out back was destroyed as well.


Please beat to near death any of your children who are this irresponsible and ignorant to think this type of thing is fun.

I feel for you Neil! That is just wrong.....on the other hand kids will be kids....and hopefully they catch them and the parents let them know how wrong this is!


i know if it was me ..... i wouldn't be able to sit down for a month... and i would have to to clean your snake poo for a year!

I never understood children that did that, nor did I ever understand TP-ing, or anything else that would make another person suffer at the hands of your amusement...

Kids will be kids, but this actually hit felony levels. They totaled my van out due to over $5,600 in damages. The guy that owed the blue truck is just out, he uses it to plow in the winter and does not carry insurance on it in the summer as its just parked out back and the heating and air's guys van has over a thousand in damages on it as well. They also tossed rocks threw the windows of the building next door. In a half hour they did well in excess of $10,000 in damage. I did some stupid things as a kid, but not once destroyed someone else's personal property just for fun.

On mine they are. I may be a progressive customer for life. I had just got new insurance 2 days before leaving for Florida and did not even have my insurance packet with cards in it yet when the van was destroyed. When I got back and reviewed the policy it had an * next to the van saying max payout was only $1,000. I had just paid 4 times that for the van. After about an hour and half on the phone I got them to adjust the value of the van up to just over $4K so everything worked out alright.

OMG. What is wrong with kids today. That would have never even crossed my mind or any of the kids I was growing up with. Still today the people I hang out with love to have fun and do stupid things, but nothing ever like that or anything that would cause anyone else any kind of damage.

have their been any other reports of similar activity in the area? Usually these things don't just happen once. Hopefully they get caught the next time!

I have never understood the urge to destroy something for the sake of it's destruction. I would never say that my children would NEVER do that (since that seems a sure way to make it happen), but if I ever found out they did.... ooohhhh... there would be some serious reprecussions. The least of all being that they repaid for the damages.

Again my sympathies on the damages, and I hope they find out who was responsible.

That's just awful. It's a shame. At least there is some logic to crime from which the perpetrator gains something. Nobody gains here and this is just senseless vandalism.

What a welcome back to Ohio. I am so sorry Neil, that just sucks! Hopefully they will get caught and soon- if not, Karma has a way of taking care of things.
And yep, I EVER catch my kids doing anything like that, there is only one thing I have to say- BOOT CAMP!

Oh Neil what a mess! Glad your insurance covered it but still that's just a stupid, awful thing for some kids to do for "fun". I know as a parent of 4 it's a big deal to teach our kids about personal responsibility and respecting others things. It really has to start when they are toddlers and keep up with it over the years so the message is clear and strong that this sort of thing is never allowed. What a rotten thing for you to come home to after a trip away! :mad:

That stinks! I'm a car enthusiast myself, and one of my biggest fears is someone vandalizing my baby :(

That just SUCKS. What's wrong with people these days? I hope they catch them and make them pay for all of it and do something humiliating for community service, like pick up trash in front of their school.

Wow man that really bites. I can only imagine how you feel. I got my mailbox wrecked a few weeks ago and I was furious. I am seriously looking into some video surveillance. If my vehicles got wrecked I would get some really nasty guard dogs.

I feel for you... that is just sickening. I really hope they catch the lil'bastards that did that.

My parents live on a quiet residential street. They've lived there for nearly 30 years. It’s the kind of street that is just out of the way enough that you rarely ever hear a police car. Last winter my dad left the house early to get to work, and he found a brick through his windshield...

These "people" are everywhere.

Neil I really don't know you but I feel for you bro... I hope they catch the sob's that did this to you and your neighbor... (if it was kids) I hope the parents have to pay restitution and the kids do time at a juvienile center.. If it was grown men they need something far worse!!

Thanks everyone, I doubt that the people responsible are actually going to be caught. I spoke with the police officer that took the report last night and he basically reiterated the fact that they have no leads and unless other cars in the area are destroyed and the kids are actually seen doing it that the chances of catching them are very slim. Unfortunately the building owner has no interest in placing cameras in the parking lot from preventing such a thing from happening again so I'm looking at what options are available today.

Raising children is difficult in any day and age. With parents having to work two and three jobs just to make ends meet, it becomes more difficult to spend the time needed with children to teach and guide them.

I feel sorry for the kids that did this. But I feel terrible that you had to come home to something like this. Did the police even take fingerprints (it's possible they had previous juvenile records)?

If they could (did) and do so, I would ask them to let you handle it and go speak with the parents and suggest after school employment to recup the damages (parents are responsible for damages their children incur...FREE workers is always a good thing..... and it may teach them more than just screaming at them and hitting them.;)
