Second clutch & a boob egg

Well, this clutch is our last clutch, from a normal x normal pairing. We got 5 good eggs, and this weird boob egg. It's veined in the normal part... I don't think it's going to make it. Thoughts?

Oh Connie I haven't a clue on that one. Our boob egg this year wasn't at all like that. I don't know if a snake can develop in only that much "normal" egg but hey, I'd do what Kara told me to do....incubate it until there's absolutely no question that it's gone bad.

Yea... I'm pretty sure its not going to make it, but Chris is a hopeless optimistic lol. :rolleyes:

We'll candle them here in a little bit, see what we got.

I dont think it will make it. First in a few days the slug end will start to mold, if you do incubate it perhaps you can put it in a separate container?

here is a pic of my boob egg and its not doing well at all, however i will find out in a few days if there is any hope.

Now granted it never did mold and always showed good veins, but I really didn't figure it would hatch. It did and the little female in there is a lovely snake though she does have a slight kink well down her back and was a bit smaller than her clutchmates.

Well, boob egg candled with some veins and an eye spot (?)... we'll incubate it just like the rest in the meantime.

Well it can't hurt to give it a chance. Just watch it for molding and for that spreading to the other eggs if you can't seperate it away from the others.

Heres to the small boob egg making it. I bet if it does make it and hatch, the most beautiful, but tiny, bp will sit and look at you with a look that will say, "Thought I wasn't gonna make it, huh?! Well, I'm here.. so feed me!!" Its late and I get silly sometimes.. :D. Sending good vibes your way.

Congrats on the clutch!!! :banana: As for the wee-little boob, be ready for it to not make it... even if it goes full term, the baby might be deformed...(what happened in HB's clutch)

boob egg didn't make it. Today was one week, the veins have decomposed and it had begun to grow mold. Ah well...

Aww Connie.. so sorry. I was really hoping for that little boob egg to make it. At least the rest are doing well.. so thats good. :hug:

Sorry it didn't make it, looked more like a slug then a boob egg. But Boob eggs can be treated with liquid bandage, apply it to the affected area only before you see any signs of molding.... in other words, apply it as a preventative treatment.

The other point I'd like to make is, try to keep the nipple above the substrate. So that it doesn't get any form of moisture coming into contact with it.

When you get to the last few weeks before hatching, you may notice a small patch of mold develop... scrape it off. You may have to do it each day.... but do it. May not happen either.

But it works, may not work every time.... but it's better then sitting back and watching that boob egg go bad without trying.

Yea, when I first saw a picture of it here at work, I thought it was a slug. Wasn't really expecting it to last, but figured we'd wait until it died to throw it out.
