Adult enclosure size
30gallon long vs 40 gallon breeder?
Who prefers which? I'm going to be getting a new one soon, thanks.

Re: Adult enclosure size
...sorry I may not be much help as I am not familiar with aquariums....but since balls are not aboreal...I would select the aquarium with most floor space...:gj:

Re: Adult enclosure size
a 20g long tank can hold a ball python for most of its life, when the snake gets over 3000g you will need a bigger enclosure

Re: Adult enclosure size
Tub gal here - so, I can't help you on which one. Had a tank, now it holds ASF's! :D

A 20gal long tank has the same amount of floor space as a 41 qt sterilite...

Good to know! I prefer the lower ceiling of tubs, as well as ease of maintenance! :gj:

Yes I just switched to tubs and all of a sudden my room got a lot bigger lol... More snakes in a smaller space...

I'm no expert but I would go for the tub, less expensive, easier to clean and not as heavy! What do you think? LOL! ;)

Re: Adult enclosure size
i have a 40 gal tank for my 1 1/2 yr old bp, it looks great as far as display, but its proving to much room for her. And i heard once bps are not display snakes, but i didnt listen.
i tubbed her last month then missed seeing her thru the foggy plastic...i think she misses seeing me to
In the end i think a tub & Live webcam inside her hide would be best for me.

Re: Adult enclosure size
i would go with the 30 long out of those 2 choices i went went the 70 long myself. longs take up less floor space comming off the wall

you can make them feel more safe by adding plants and hides so they can move around with out being seen if they choose

You have four 70 gallon longs? I see you currently have four ball pythons. I don't envy you on cleaning day and hauling that thing to the tub to disinfect it!! :P

Re: Adult enclosure size
I choose to use RBI's reptile cages and find that the 2x3x1 is perfect for an 700g+ ball python. I have three of my girls in three cages now (they are all over 1000g) and will add my next three biggest to three more cages (cages that my boas are outgrowing!)
My ball pythons in the cages have never had a problem with the space and those cages actually result in LESS upkeep than the tubs. Love my cages!!!! :D

Re: Adult enclosure size
Depends on the adult. Most males can live in a 20Long or at most a 30 gal breeder tank, but some females need increased space.
Whatever tank you use, make sure it has more length and width than height! BPs don't need ANY more than a 12" tall home. 30 gal Breeder tanks are low and wide, thus making them a great choice for most adult BPs, and 40 gal breeder tanks can be used for the big girls. :)
I may be building a rack right now for my BPs, but I'm still mainly a tank person. I'll still have two BPs in tanks because they prefer it, and my tubs for the rack are 90qt - same L&W as the 41, but 12" tall. I prefer giving my snakes some head room as well as the room for greenery.

i wish i had four of them, but i only have one right now have my smallest female in it , my pastel is in a 20 long (getting a 70 in a couple months:please:) and the other 2 are actually in tubs. but the 70 has sliding doors that come off on the front so with the whole front open its easy to do it all with a bucket or 2 and a few rags

Re: Adult enclosure size
I got a 40breeder....I got it insanely cheap, around $65 for it brand new...If it doesnt prove to go well ill go with a tub or vision and put my JCP or Black milk in this 40 breeder, so it will always be useful for something lol...but it works out well because I'm going away for a few days, so my bp can get really used to his new enclosure and my black milk will be going in the 20L so they can all get used to it..
