RIDICULOUS!!! My girlfriend just sent me this link, which I was about to post when I saw this thread...

    Is everyone ignorant or what???

That's where Jen Lewis, a wildlife rehabilitator who works at the Kennel Shop, identified it as a python. The snakes kill prey with their teeth but are not poisonous, she said.
Gee, and I always thought that reticulated pythons were constrictors. I had no idea they killed with their teeth...

Oh, and is anyone other than me curious whether an 8 foot retic would even FIT in the water pipes, let alone, squeeze out and into the barrel of the washer?

HAHAHA Garters are venomous too now right?

The news does such a poor job of research. You would think they'd study or be prepared for the job but I guess not.

I'm with you. The only thing I ever find while doing laundry is maybe a few loose coins.

I'd take one of those any day over the spare change. So pretty!

Honestly, I'm just thankful they didn't say it was "poisonous".

It looked like it was having a rough shed - probably climbed in for extra moisture.

I gotta admit though, even with what I know about snakes, I'd be pretty freaked out to find a RETIC in my washing machine. I don't care what you guys say; those guys are intimidating.

Here's the link to the local newspaper:
    http://www.sunjournal.com/story/2747..._draws_stares/
My dad sent it to me. I really loved that the animal control officer who is the snake expert identified it as a fanged python. Yup. She was sure of it. What do you think they meant by it "sprayed all over the place"????

    A couple more links:

If you go to the bottom, there are two more videos including one which says the snake will be at the wildlife rehab place for at least this week. I wondr if a real snake place could step in and take this snake. It looks like nobody knowxs how to care for her. She is in a glass aquarium with no bedding or hides with a big cement rock on top. I can't believe it survived the wash cycle, poor thing. I also can't believe it didn't bite anyone after being spun and rinsed and grabbed out of the washer.

I just watched the 1st video posted again and im pretty sure the snake took a dump on the guy right when he took it out of the washer. Unfortunate for the retic and the animal control guy.

Yeah, I read it on AOL. WTF?!? is it about ABC's anchorppl??? Her: "a venomous python". Pththththththt

AOL and the "expert" < term used VERY loosely > stating that its not poisonous, but it kills with its teeth. Huuuuuuuuh?????

Oh, c'mon ppl.....you'd think newspeople would RESEARCH a little better.

Or how about the one that is came thru the pipes??? Use a little common sense. A retic that thick would get stuck in any washer pipes.

Even when I didn't own snakes, growing up in E. Oregon, I had more smarts about snakes than all this drivel crap!

Probably wouldn't have...it would have drown first. (OOOps, wrong quote.....sorry! Meant to be with the comment c. how it lived in the washing machine thru the wash and spin cycles.)

this news story is a bunch of BS. there are sooo many things wrong with it... it's clearly a case of a slow day in the news so a back story gets blown 10x out of proportion to make quick little read.
