The Weirdest Thing Happened

So - today I go to Petsmart to pick up some bird feed for the ASF's and some cat food. I speak to the staff that know me, peek at the kitties, roll by the rats, am headed towards the bird food and I hear "Robin Abernethy, please come to the front, Robin Abernethy, please come to the front!"

I'm like, did I hear them right? Did they just page me? Karl doesn't know I'm here - so why are they paging me?

I head to the front and look at the manager, Amy and go - "did you just page ME?"

She said "yup! This lady's buying two ball pythons and she has some questions for you!"

Now mind you - I've never worked at this store - I'm a regular customer, I adopted my Sammy kitty there, and I'm picking up canned cat food, dog food, bedding, etc on a pretty regular basis. I was "accosted" by the staff when they first got their ball pythons in to "train" them on the proper care of their ball pythons.

They are constantly asking me for advice on them whenever I'm there, and they have my number - one employee gives my number to other herpers, which I don't mind, because not many actually call. I'm thinking I need some bp.net business cards made to leave there! LOL

Thats awsome that you are cool with it. It is always good to have people like you out there helping people just getting into the hobby, like myself, with your knoledgable (sp?) information :gj:

I think the Business Cards are a great idea. With a simple little message like

"Register with us, You'll learn all you need!"

or somethin else cheesball like that. Especially if you are getting this a lot!

That's awesome! It is good that the employees are recognizing they aren't really qualified to teach people about BPs. It is really cool that you are willing to share your time & knowledge (but no surprise, that's why everyone here loves you so much!).

I love the bp.net business card idea! Good to carry around with you (and that goes for all of us!) for when we happen to run into someone who might be interested in our site. Also, in your case, since the people at this particular store obviously respect you and understand their own lack of knowledge, they might be glad to have a stack you leave at the store that they can hand out any time they sell a BP, or just get questions about one.

atleast the people at petsmart will listen to you. anytime i go in one i cringe when i look at the reptiles. everyone says the same thing "i realy don't take care of the reptiles". aparently no one does.

Yes you do need some BP.net cards!!!

I can't wait till our town gets a pet store, I am def getting a job there, & help these ppl take care of their reptiles, & animals.
I have been learning so much in these past 7 yrs. I still have alot to learn though.

You could even post a sort of "print" here for all the members to print out their own and hand out when they go to pet stores!:)
