please help yellow anaconda?
ok, so i held a little 5 foot green anaconda, and i seriously fell head over heels for them.
BUT, im not into the whole...
"possibly killing you/omg giant snake" thing.
i heard that yellow anacondas ONLY get around EIGHT FOOT?
is that true?
also
if that is, WHERE DO I GET ONE?
AND HOW MUCH?!!?
-
Re: please help yellow anaconda?
Yellow condas are smaller.. but I've seen a 12' 100lb female. Males will typically be smaller.. probably around 8' or so, yeah.
Ben Renick here breeds them.. not sure if he has anything now or not, but I'm sure you could find out. There's usually several ads on kingsnake for them as well.

Re: please help yellow anaconda?
so do males usually get larger than 8 foot?

Males usually hit 6-8 feet.
-
Re: please help yellow anaconda?
Yeah.. 6-8' is pretty normal. My adult male yellow is around 7' or so I'd guess.

Re: please help yellow anaconda?
Ben will be the place to go for yellow annies, and there morphs! Good luck. :gj:

While smaller than its larger relative the Green Anaconda, the Yellow Anaconda can still reach an impressive size. They can exceed fifteen feet in length, although females average less than twelve feet and males average around eight feet. They are primarily olive or yellow in color, with lots of dark markings on the back. Male Yellow Anacondas have preanal spurs near the base of the tail that are used in the courting ritual.

Seems like a pretty interesting snake to be interested in. I haven't heard too much about them, but it seems that they don't get that big. Almost similar sizes to a RTB. Afterall, it is an off species of a boa isn't it?
-
Re: please help yellow anaconda?
yes, its a boa.
and i really love greens, but again..
im not a "big" snake person.
the largest we have is a dimond jag X coastal python

I've found them to be nippy, yes. I have three yellows.. all of them will bite. The bigger one is calmer though.. could be they mellow with age.

-
Re: please help yellow anaconda?
i got to baby sit a 8 footer a few years back. awesome snake. she liked to hiss and stike though.
-
Re: please help yellow anaconda?
yeah ive heard its really hard to find a real docile one...
-
Re: please help yellow anaconda?
There is a guy in Reading Pa. that breeds both. He told me greens breed easier, he has
yellows too. I guess if you get babies, and raise them up, they would be more docile. I
don' know though, thats toooo big of a mouth to feed for me. Good luck though.

Re: please help yellow anaconda?
If you do get one just don't forget they are on the Lacey act, so it had to be in your state.
