Re: What type of snake...
GTP's can be pretty snippity from what I've heard but are GORGEOUS!
If you want something a little more docile but still colorful, check out some of the cornsnake morphs that are out now! Definitely easier on the pocket book than alot of other snake morphs!

Price is definitely being considered, so keep that in mind.
If you like oranges, KSBs have some pretty color vibrancies. (but I think you want something bigger)
I know Brazilian Rainbow Boas are just brilliant in color (big but not too big as well!).. Corn snakes have a lot of color varieties as well.
There are specific types of boas, I'm not sure what kinds exactly that have purplish colorations. Unless you want to go for a bp morph.
That's all I got for ya. :]
Re: What type of snake...
Corn snakes have awesome colors. You just dont get those vibrant yellows and reds in BP's
Re: What type of snake...
How about a jungle carpet python?
Re: What type of snake...
I would go for a milk snake....
Re: What type of snake...
Re: What type of snake...
I have one of these and they are really colorful.

Albino Corn Snake.
Re: What type of snake...
How about these? They are actually avail as we have to get rid of them
They are both females '06 - very tame and curious/active eat voraciously and would come with nearly a years supply of F/Thttp://constrictors.com/forums/attac...1&d=1214322831

Re: What type of snake...
Look into Ringed Pythons. They get to a decent size, and have a little girth to them. Their husbandry is a little advanced towards humidity and shedding, but they're gorgeous snakes! Bright red and jet black as babies...
If you can find someone who selectively breeds theirs for color, you may get some nice adults. Most mature into brown and black adults, but a nice, selectively bred animal will mature into a maroon and smoke black animal.
Feeding isn't a problem. This species is very voracious with food! Prices run around $175-350 a piece. Bob Clark has some VERY impressive looking adults. They do mature slowly though...something to keep in mind ;)
Re: What type of snake...
Carpet pythons always catch my eye... especially some of the morphs (I think most morphs are coastal carpet pythons?)
Re: What type of snake...
I know they're "a dime a dozen", but as my corn has matured, he really competes as being my favorite snake. And he's SO - EASY - TO - CARE - FOR....
And oh yeah, he's full of orangey goodness!

Re: What type of snake...
Boas have some amazing morphs, motley, scoria, albino motley, but all of those are quite expensive...
I was going to say a Labyrinth or Albino Labyrinth Burmese Python, but too big I guess... The albino Labyrinth is worth $575 and the normal is $475 at Bob Clark's Link

Re: What type of snake...
Go to Preuss brotha, they got a gorgeous sunbeam in right now and she's a smoker!
Re: What type of snake...
I researched sunbeams (one at a LPS right now) and I'm not sure how to keep them in captivity. Something like 90% humidity, 6-8 inches of burrowing substrate. Seems like most die within six months too.

personally i always recommend carpet pythons... i actually have a yearling black and yellow jungle i'm looking to get rid of too. ;)
but seriously, they make a great pet for beginners and advanced keepers alike.
Re: What type of snake...
I'd go for a corn or kingsnake. There's a huge variety of colors and patterns out there.
Re: What type of snake...
I'd suggest a Carpet python too. They have some beautiful colors, lots of locales to choose from, and aren't much more difficult than a BP in terms of care. GTPs are a bit of a jump from BPs but if you feel you're ready for one then go for it.
Re: What type of snake...
a kenyan sand boa would be a great choice because they come inin few bright colours and they dont get very large. their only draw back is they spend 96% of their time under their substrate cause they are burrowers. they are great snakes though.
here is mine, Lucifer
