Well... Don't buy it then.
There are other people out there that would gladly do so.
By the way.. Where are you planning to buy a house with only $10,000??
-
Re: Breeders
Most co-dominant morphs don't cost nearly that much. Co-doms have dropped a lot in price and many are available for less than $1000. Pastels are even cheaper than that. A lot of recessives are still holding out a few thousand higher, but in general, the prices have come down a lot.
-
Re: Breeders
Ive just never heard of them being that expensive.
Well I live in Tennessee and if you have any skills at it, you can build your own house and materials cost you 10,000. Not a mansion. But a house.
-
Re: Breeders
Some people I talked to in KY sold albinos for 99.00 (babies)
-
Re: Breeders
Technically speaking, that isn't really buying a house then, is it?
Anyway...
I have paid a lot for my animals, and will continue to do so until I am satisfied with my collection and my production.
The prices are there because people will pay them.
Maybe one day you will too.

....got my undergrad in architecture and have a hard time believing anyone can construct a livable 'dwelling' for $10K....you'd be searching an re-using a lot of materials...
...and you are right...it aint going to be no mansion
...and the albino....was prolly a cornsnake
-
Re: Breeders
I know the difference between a ball python and cornsnake.
Im sorry your architectural skills arent very good if you cant put a house together for 10 grand.

or a het. male
-
Re: Breeders
I can't I afford a 10k snake right now but if I had the money and it called to me I certainly wouldn't have a problem doing so. It all depends on what people think is worth it; you may not think so but others do. Just like there are some restaurants that serve deserts that are thousands of dollars.

Re: Breeders
Well... it could be something like 500-800 square feet. It'd be 2 rooms. A bedroom/kitchenette and a bathroom. There ya go!
I think I might be able to get that much land for 6,000... so that would leave me with 4,000 to build with. Oorah!
-
Re: Breeders
I didnt say that other people shouldnt buy them. I said I had never heard of that. If you have the money great.
And if het male, is albino in color then sure.

Well, if you already own the land, then it could be a bit bigger. Up here, you don't get much more than a flat of mud for 10,000. Cost of living is high... Not as high as some places though, in that regards I feel lucky.

Re: Breeders

LOL
Hey you never know,
There was a guy that started trading a paper clip and worked his way up to a house that he now lives in. I think he managed it by blogging or something.

It could have been. In that case, I would have been extremely upset in that I bought what I thought was going to be a small snake, but turned out to be a very large one.

And that is where education and knowledge before the purchase comes in :)

Re: Breeders
I'm sorry Josh, but what if that's the way it is where she lives? Your insulted because of it and feel the need to tease her? Seriously, lets grow up.
-
Re: Breeders
I'm very sorry. I fealt you were putting down my education...Im just very curious...in all my studies as an undergrad...I never read about a dwelling which can be purchased for $10,000.
...just waiting for that picture? :)
-
Re: Breeders
Did you read that little thingy underneath my name?? Im in Tennessee. Have you ever been to Tennessee? Minimum wage is less than $6 dollars an hour. And your lucky to find a job that pays $10. A log house, a block home, cob. There are a lot of different ways to buy a home. But Im sure the first thing that came to your mind was brick.

Connie... I apologize to you too. But I just need to see pictures. It is something I am passionate about, and it something I have never encountered. I spent a many all-nighters, studying green dwellings...LEED homes, recycled homes....and I have NEVER seen a house which can be bought (as she said in her first couple of post) for $10K.
I just want to see pics.
...and I add, I am not teasing anybodies lifestyle...I am just stating, what the dollar can buy you.

No hard feelings here Josh. ;)

Re: Breeders
Hey Josh- ever study straw bale homes? Pm me if you have....
-
Re: Breeders
I have researched them. But unfortunately there are sustainability issues with them, humidty, pest, FIRE, and the cost of upkeep. The cheapest and probably most sustainable SBH I have seen was just shy of $40K. Stucco was added to help increase the sustainability.
-
Re: Breeders
wow, this has gone wayyy off topic
hopefully noone is selling an albino BP for $99

Re: Breeders
Wow they build houses out of bales of straw? I could build a nice sized house for 100 dollars.
-
Re: Breeders
ANYHOW. Regarding both topics.
You really take into consideration the phrase 'you get what you pay for'. If the albino was in fact a ball python (which I doubt and assume it could've easily been a burmese) then the breeder was probably inexperienced, uneducated, or basically had no idea what he was doing.
Just my thought.
Hm, I believe you, but I've been to Tennessee, and I have been to Mississippi.. which is almost worse.. and neither of them are as bad as Kansas, Utah, or Oregon.. from personal experience anyway, thats just what I know from the areas in which my family dwell. :]
