How much would you pay for a pinstripe?
so i want to get a morph finally...
i have a normal, a het, and i had what we thought to be a axanthic.

but anyways, i like spiders, and pinstripes...

and i want a really differant morph, "nothing that looks close to normal"

but the thing is, i dont really know how much to pay for a pinstripe...

ive seen them from as low as 200.00$ for a male, to 800.00$ for a male...

what would you pay for a male pinstripe?

note: im going to a few shows soon, and i would love to know how much, so i dont get ripped off bassically...

    thanks.

I hate to be noncommittal, but it's really going to depend on:

    1. Pattern clarity.
    2. Color (brown to orange to gold).
    3. Reputation of the dealer.

I'd say $300 is the low end of a good deal for a male pin and $450 for the female low-end pin, but that's with experience shopping on-line, and I hear prices differ at the shows.

Pins are so nice. I like mine orange, and we're paying for one right now ($300), so hub did a lot of research and that was the best price we found, but the guy is not-so well known but he's been great with picture updates until we pay him off.

Wow, I couldn't believe it when I saw one in the $400's recently. Maybe it was two years ago that someone posted that the pins would stay high priced (seems like a couple thousand then) because they where being selectively marketed to people who would hold the price. Just goes to show it's all about supply and demand. Those high prices no doubt caused breeders to work harder and smarter to produce more. Capitalism at it’s best giving the customer what they want. Now that they are underpriced for what a neat morph they are I'm going to have to find a way to get buy one. Wonder if I could trade a Mojave for one … I still bet the going price for pinstripe is a good bit higher than these few examples, it just has to be, right?

maybe if you buy from a overpriced breeder.
    ive seen them from 200 - 800!
    thats a huge price diff.

most of them around 200-400 though.

they really havnt kept there value...
    as you said.

IMO - All Pins are not created equal...I don't consider myself to be over priced and there ain't no way I'd give my male Pin males away for $200...LOL...I'd keep every last one of them...I'd say for your average male Pin the price is around $400 - Maybe a tad cheaper at shows...But remember the ol saying - "You get what you pay for..."

Re: How much would you pay for a pinstripe?
I think that as long as you know what you are looking for when you go shopping you should be able to get one for a good price... where I am they seem to be holding still. Dropping, but not hugely fast, even at shows, as there are not that many available yet.

This season could change that though.

But I would always pay the extra few dollars for one that fits into what I want to eventually work on, and to ensure I am getting a nice snake from someone I trust.

I will not even admit to what range I would still pay... (there are two shows coming up - do not what to jinx myself :) ).

Re: How much would you pay for a pinstripe?
I'm just slow adjusting to the $400 price. I hadn't been paying much attention as I thought they where out of my range still at $700 or more.

So what is the going price for Mojave males? Based on where they where last year or the year before relative to each other I wouldn't expect them to be close but maybe they are (or maybe I just don't know the Mojave price).

If they are close to the same now, it might be a classic case of what I think happened with ghost. I believe ghosts held their price for so many years because they where under rather than over valued to start with. High prices cause increased production. If you had both a pin and a ghost three years ago which one got more females (I know, not a good comparison recessive to some type of dominant). The better comparison would be did Pinstripe or Mojave males get more females the last two years?

Thanks Bruce...Which one? That's 3 different Pins...The 1st one is a female that I wouldn't let her go for a $1K...I'm like you - I'll pay premium cash for a premium animal...Because that's what I want to produce - Premium animals that sale themselves...

Quality has alot to do with it. Last years price was $800ish which is what I paid for a nice pin from Tim. Now lots of people(with quality animals) will stick to those prices until the market tells them different. This years breeding season is just getting going and Daytona is right around the corner which usually sets the tone of whats worth what.
