Expensive for what they are and allow temps to fluctuate too much.
In my opinion you would be better of with a switch dimmer (which would only cost you the 4th of the price)
As far as T-Stat goes I would not recommend anything lower than Ranco or Johnson on the low end.
Re: BAH-1000sc thermostat
I'm using one on a baby rack. It doesn't have to do too much though, the rack on full power has the bins between 90-92 to 82-83 (haven't checked to see if the acurites are completly acurate....) But I have seen it kick off a couple times....
No problems so far....
Re: BAH-1000sc thermostat
I've heard about the dimmer switch before, where can I get one and does it require any rewiring? I really dont think my heat pad can be rewired at all

Re: BAH-1000sc thermostat
I personally wouldn't recommend a dimmer (or rheostat) unless your room that you house your snake(s) in has a rock steady temperature. With a dimmer it always puts out constant power at whatever setting you have it set at. So if your room cools down, then it may need adjusting, if your room warms up, it may need adjusting. Basically, you'll always be adjusting it unless the room is constant.
I'd go for a Ranco t-stat. Can be had for not that much and would be better than a dimmer.

I agree a good tstat you plug in and not worry.
Re: BAH-1000sc thermostat
Only thing I use a dimmer for is the fan in my incubator......
Re: BAH-1000sc thermostat
Ive used the thermostat without any problems what so ever...

Does it have heat drop?
Re: BAH-1000sc thermostat
In my experience, the people who complain most often of thermostat failure is people who are using this unit. I have seen countless threads where people buy them and they either initially don't work or fail shortly after setting it up.
Try this thermostat: http://www.amazon.com/Hydrofarm-MTPR...1529683&sr=1-7
Re: BAH-1000sc thermostat
Ooh! I thought the Reptitemp was the only thing available in that range. I assume that's better?

The hydrofarm one is digital so I would say it is better then the reptitemp. A user on here tested it and said it held temps very well.
Re: BAH-1000sc thermostat
Think "constant optimum temperatures" mean proportional?

No, that thermostat is an on off thermostat.
Re: BAH-1000sc thermostat
I've been using mine for 3 months now and no problems at all. I use it with UTH. Being on-off, the temp does fluctuate within a 3-4 degree range, but I dont think that's an issue. I've ordered a second one to use on the other side of a 20 gal. The problem with rheostat (dimmer) is that your room temp will fluctuate and this will greatly affect your temps. I've been doing this and I'm constantly adjusting for night, morning and late afternoon changes in room temp.
Re: BAH-1000sc thermostat
Does the BAH have night drop temps built in or do i have to buy an attachment? If so please reply with a link for it:snake:
