    Broken Toe
So im about 80 percent sure that i broke my big toe on the 4th.
Right at the beginning of my toenail to about half way up my foot is solid purple. Just wondering if you doctor that the same way as a broken finger. I have broken many many fingers and i usually just tape a popsicle stick and to a neighbor finger.

So yeah just wanted to know if there is any special way to dr. it up.
    Thanks guys.

Isn't it funny that we are willing to patch ourselves together with popsicle sticks and duct tape when we break bones, but if one of our snakes sneeze it's off to the vet?

well you got half of it right. The alcohol part. ha.

One of the fireworks started a fire in the woods so i run full speed towards it forgetting about the pile of firewood. Big toe first straight into a solid piece of oak. Flipped me over the pile, got all scratched up.

Oh and i put the fire out.

    Alcohol + fireworks = ouch.

Good luck with the toe, I busted my second toe on my right foot a while back and it took forevever to heal. I had to ice it a ton and took plenty of pain meds. The darn thing would finally start to heal up and then I would whack it on something and have to start all over. The toenail eventually fell off but it is starting to look normal now. I don't think there is much you can do for it, I even tried to tape it to the big toe just to stabilize it but that made it worse!

I always heard that if you had a broken big toe, not just a crack in the bone but a clean break, that you would be unable to walk.

well its definitely not broken. after 2 nights of ice n heat over and over again, the swelling went down and the bruising is going down a bit. guessing i just stubbed it pretty bad, it hurt like it was broke though, maybe a small fracture?

I've broken many toes over the years. The first time they put a cast on all the way up to my freakin' knee! Don't know why, but they did! I've also had them taped and when I broke my three center toes, they did NOTHING! My toes were bruised for weeks on end and walking was nearly impossible. I don't envy you, that's for sure!

I can relate to the no insurance bit...I'm in the same boat. I'm ready to put myself out of my mysery because my back hurts so bad right now! (I'm about to post for solutions)

When I broke one of my toes, my mom told me that the doctor wouldn't really do anything and I should just tape it. (toe next to my pinky toe).

Mine seemed to be a fairly simple break though. A horse stepped on my foot while I had tennis shoes on, leaned on it and I was unable to get the horse off my foot in time. The toe works fine now, but I will be in a lot of pain if you tried to crack the "knuckle" on that toe.

I have broken 3 of my toes... & 1 finger. Nothing they can do about it. You can make a splint for it, if you want. I never did.

You just let it be & heal on it's own. you can put a cotton ball between the big toe & the other, so it won't rub on it.

The first time I broke my toe, I had to work 9 hours standing. OUCH my toe was so purple, blue & black. I was in pain, but I can stand lots of pain anyways.

    Hope your tow feels better!!!
