    Reptile Shows
    So, I've been wondering..
I haven't been to a Reptile Show in a good while soo.

Does anyone have a list or knows of a list of all the reptile shows that are coming up?

Also, I heard from somewhere you have to be 18 to buy anything from the vendors.. I'm 17 and thats very unfortunate.

    Thanks everyone!

Dont know about shows in your area, NARBC Tinley maybe!!!

as far as being 18 to buy, its prolly a good idea but most people I see do not follow that rule.

For example just this weekend, some place was sellin water monitors and a kid just walks up (prolly about 14) and says "ill take it!" The guy hands it to him bada bing bada boom.

Im not sayin a 14 year old couldnt take care of a water monitor, but odds are not in his favor.

    Totally understand.
I was just thinking.. should I force my mother into the trunk by means of ropes and chains?
She likes my snakes in MY room.. away from HER. Haha.

I'm sure if anything (similar to other types of shows) I could always ask an 18 year old to buy something for me.

I think the last show I've been to was right on the edge of Chicago. I don't remember what it was called.. it's been so long..

I'd be willing to travel 3 hours or so. ;]

Pick up a reptiles magazine. They have a long listing in the back of shows coming up in the month all across the US.

You're in my area (somewhat). There are a few shows around here. One I usually 'work' at is the 'All Animal Expo'. Which comes twice a month, first Saturday and third Sunday of every month. I don't really like the show because since it was moved, its more as the title says... 'All Animal'. It used to be 'Lee Watsons Reptile Swap'. Now people are bringing in puppies, kittens, birds, sugar gliders, PET chickens, PET bunnies, PET roosters,PET quail, PET mice, PET rats. And what I just love is when I am selling feeder mice or rats and occassionally I will get people calling me sick. One of the past shows I was called sadistic because we had pinkie/fuzzy mice at the table that had no mother. I just told her thank you and watched her look at me in disgust.

Another show is the Lake County Reptile Show which is once a month on the second Saturday of every month. I've only been there once and didn't like it. It was too small.

There is also a show in Valparaiso, Indiana that comes on the last Saturday of every month. Another very small show in which most people don't know about because the lady who runs it doesn't advertise.

    The age thing is untrue.

The list on KS that you've already been given the link to is a good one. Not sure it has EVERY show, but it certainly has a lot.

As far as needing to be 18, I'd guess every show has its own rules, and most shows have the rule that the vendors make up their own rules on that subject. Even if the show does have a rule about it, they aren't exactly going to have show police standing at each table, so really it will come down to the individual vendor. Look (the clothes you choose for that day & how you do your hair, face, etc.) and most importantly act mature, responsible, and knowledgeable, and I doubt you'll even get questioned.

BTW, by knowledgeable, I don't mean don't ask questions, but do ask intelligent ones. :)
