    Well..... It's something
    Yeah!!

My Tarantula project is a bust.

    No blurries... None.

4 out of 6 eggs are hatched.

    2 spiders out of 6.

4 out of 6 eggs are out and ALL MALE so far...

    And angry at that..

This guy tried to nail me while taking pics...

    http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...s/P1050395.jpg

    Angry sucker...

    I'm sad about the pattern...

    Here is mom and Dad..

    And Mom

I had heard that Blurries weren't genetic, but.. I had to try.

Heather -- I had an awesome blurry that I sold off to Jane Whited (Mickies Nightmare) he produced a nice healthy clutch last season of normals -- shes going to breed out the project and hope that it's recessive.

Personally as awesome as they look -- I think Blurry looks more like an accident (temperature spikes) kind of thing than a genetic thing -- which is why I didn't hold on to him.

Anyway -- there is still a recessive chance I guess!!

Least you got some nice healthy babies this clutch :gj:

    Great Looking Babies!!!

I talked to Ian G. and he said he has produced Simple Recessive Blurries...Hold back a male Spider to breed to her.

What is this 'blurry' phenomenon exactly?

Also, that spider is wicked cool looking!

Ok... I've gotta ask! Is the Tarantula a Blurry Spider? I've not heard of that one but it sounds cool! Are there any pics floating around?

At any rate, those Spiders are HOT Heather!!!!! Congrats! :D

Heather the babies look great despite not showing the blurry trait. I agree with Tosha and Jon on holding back a spider male and line breeding back to mom to see if it is recessive or not. Blurry spiders or Tarantulas would be pretty cool looking. Good luck and don't give up on the project just yet.

Sweet spiders Heather! I got the same odds 2 spiders out of 6 eggs. It's disapointing but the spiders you have are super hot!!!

    Heres the girl...

She's a bit more like I was expecting, and she is the only female in the clutch

    http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...s/P1050411.jpg

    SO

    5.1 Critters
    1.1 Spiders

    I'm okay with that.

Both of the Spiders are great looking. I wouldn’t be too disappointed with them even if the Blurry part of the equation didn’t work out. Keep us posted on them after they shed. I think that little girl is going to be something special. (I hope I am allowed to use the word special in a sentence and not offend Tom.)http://www.albeysreptiles.com/images...ile_tongue.gif

    LOL!!!! Thanks, Albey

I'll check with him and ask, but he is still trying to make the "special" into the "Baker"

Those are awesome spiders... It could be great getting 1.1... the male to hold back and line breed, and the female is just plain HOT... Congrats!

I can't find the post mentioning it, but I'm pretty sure the Blurry aka Velvet is a recessive mutation, so you're on your way to the snake you were trying to produce. It's just going to take a little longer. Good Luck!

I thought DQ made Blizzards? And Flurries was some other brand? Must be a cross between the 2! :D

I agree with those that suggest holding back a male to try to prove it out as a recessive morph, especially since it sounds like others have proven blurry as recessive!
