Re: LesserxLesser Bel ?????
I am not entirely sure that I am right about this, but I think that with a lesser to lesser breeding each egg has a 25% chance of hatching out a BEL (if I said that right). At the same time I think each egg also has a 25% chance of being a normal, and a 50% chance of being a lesser. That means over a long period of time you might expect one out of every four babies form such pairings to be a BEL... I think....
Someone else feel free to correct me if I am wrong or if I worded it wrong.
Re: LesserxLesser Bel ?????
25% Normal
50% Lessers
25% BEL!!
Not bad odds if you ask me and once you have a BEL male to breed to those lesser mom's you will get tons!
Re: LesserxLesser Bel ?????
thank you i have a 7 egg clutch, a 8 egg clutch, and a 5 egg clutch ill keep my fingers crossed
Re: LesserxLesser Bel ?????
Nice!! I would expect at least 5 of them!!
Good luck!
Re: LesserxLesser Bel ?????
ill be happy with one that was the pairing plan at least i also have a pinXlesser clutch im hopin for kingpins also
Re: LesserxLesser Bel ?????
Oooh, Kingpins are gorgeous, I think the odds work the same for that pairing as well, so 25% chance for normals, 25% chance lesser, 25% chance pinstripe, 25% chance kingpin (hotness!). Good luck with all the clutches!! I expect to see pictures of the babies!

Never count your chickens before they hatch!:D
The odds are per egg, not per four eggs. So you could get all bels , all normals or lessers with very weird odds!

Ok, I will be the one to ask, and I dont want to seem like a jerk but : How can you get all the way to having three lesserXlesser clutches in the incubator and still not know what the odds of hitting on a homozygous animal are? Your adults likley cost a considerable sum of money and took at least a few years to raise up.
How did you get this far into a high end project without knowing the basics of inheritance?

I was thinking exactly the same, not just one lesser but buying 4 :eyepoppin
Re: LesserxLesser Bel ?????
I'm new to bp's been a boa breeder most of my adult life every ball with the exception of a few I got when my father passed a few months back most female were already gravid my brother and I made a split he took most of the balls I took all the eggs when they were laid the onlymorph my father went with that were sameXsame were lessers (according to his documents) I should have been more clear but thank you for clearing this up for me
Re: LesserxLesser Bel ?????
There are some cumulative odds you can figure for those 20 eggs. The 25% chance bel per egg is correct but if all hatch you can figure the odds of getting AT LEAST one bel as 1 - (0.75)^20 = 99.7%. Basically what this does is take the chance that each isn't a bel (75%) and figures the odds of that happening 20 times in a row. Then you subtract that from 1 to figure the odds of it not happening.
So, if all the eggs hatch and are all lesser x lesser you have a very good chance of getting at least 1 bel and most likely more. While nothing is certain you might well hit the long term average of 5 (25% of 20). But, you have to hatch the eggs first ...
