Sunroofs - aka - Winston's First Clutch

Justin (jkobylka) made me do it! Take pictures of the cut eggs, that is!

First - we were just a twinkle in our daddy's eye!

The mean lady did have to pull Pastel 1 out of the egg a bit to untwist his/her umbilcus from around his/her body and neck - but she did it as quickly and without as much fanfare as she could to minimize the stress - but mean lady feels much better now! :D

I know a few people are hoping these are boys - but I am hoping for a nice female or two from this clutch and another due in August from Winston!

What shape blade of scissors should you use to cut? ir round tipped or pointed best for the job?

Thank you Shaun! You've been a great cheerleader for me! I'm so glad we're close enough to each other to be able to get together for small group lunches/dinners and just general visiting! You'll have to come up here and see them in person!

Isn't she cute? :P It is really cool to see many of us start to see the results of our years of patiently raising up our girls to get to this day!

Just a quick update - babies are still hanging out in their eggs absorbing yolk, and I'm about to hit the road in about an hour to drive to NC to see my folks.

The eggs are coming with me, because a) Karl is a weenie and won't take them out of the incubator and set them up for me and b) there's no way I'm missing my first clutches make their debut!

I'm taking this clutch and my possy het clown clutch with me. My dad is finally showing some interest in this, so I'll probably have him watch when I cut those eggs (they are Day 53 today).

I've got 10 - 72 hour heat packs, styrofoam coolers and the egg boxes I'm transfering them to will become their set up tubs (taking my solder wand with me to make ventilation holes after they hatch and get cleaned up).

Don't know if I'll be able to upload pictures while I'm there - but I'll try.

As a result, my participation in the next week will be spotty at best - likely late at night!

I'll miss you guys!

OK - one more update - Pastel 2 is checking out her world! She's still in the egg, but she's stretching over to her neighbor to see what's up! Hopefully I'll have babies in the next day or two!

That's awsome. I can't believe that you sexed the snake while it was still in the egg. I know it can be done, and have done it once or twice myself. Congrats.

On a side note, watch those heat packs closely, as the 72 hour heat packs can get to very high temps (if I rememer correctly, I think thay can get to 130 degrees). They can be used, just make sure they aren't to close to the eggs.

I didn't sex it - actually, was just calling it a her - maybe wishing for it? LOL

And I am watching the temps - I have my temp gun as well as the digital thermometer inside the egg box with the display outside the cooler.

Well - it turns out that she IS a girl! Pastel 2 is a female, Pastel 1 is a male and the normal sibs are still hanging out in their eggs going "will you get off of me!!!"

I can't wait to see them when they come out of the eggs!
