I slit the rest... I have 3 pastels for sure, possibly 5... one I thought was a normal, but he poked his head up in the goo... and it was a perfect faded pastel head.

What am I saying he... I meant SHE.

I also have one that is upside down in the egg... I can see the umbilicus. I can see movement, I am just wondering if I should be concerned about this babe or not?

Anyone that has seen this, please comment.

They still may not have developed their full coloring which is why I asked what day it was. They can change a lot in a few days from what they look like in the egg to when they finally come out.
Hopefully you hit great odds and got nice pastels.

I've had them upside down before. Nothing to worry about.

I figured that was why you asked, but the snake flipped over and showed the head and dorsal. No doubt it is a pastel. Crazy amounts of blushing, flames, and faded dorsal :)

Actually the odds in this clutch are looking really good. Just keep telling myself that there is a 1 in 2 chance of a female.

What pairing did you cut Robin?

I noticed you mentioned on RZ, but that you did not give pics. :)

I sense a crazy DUW thread in the making.

Congrats Bruce. I hope you do have 5 female Pastels in them eggs. As for the upside down baby. No worries. They sit in all fashions in those eggs. Sometimes, even though you cut a hole, they will still pip elsewhere, and crawl out of a hole they make themselves.

Thanks all... just a quick note (I am at work - apparently my boss does not champion me staying home to sit quietly next to the incubator in case the new snakes need a hug).

I looked again this morning, the babes are moving around and showing off their beautiful markings. :)

Three years from start to finish, but worth every ounce of time, energy, research, and money.

I am feeling pretty stoked, now a few more firsts (exit the egg, first shed, first feed.) and I will have come full circle.

    Thanks for the feedback
    bruce

PS: the dad is a Graziani offspring. His dad came from Greg, was bred in CAN, and Zoltan was one of his sons.

I have seen the other offspring and they have all maintained the high blush and high yellow so I am confident that I will get a few lookers, even with a gradient of phenotypes.

We had a few of ours do that. Go to all the work to make them a lovely exit hole and they just HAVE to do it themselves...kids...eh! LOL

    Here ya go Jo... :)

    _________________________

At this point I can definitely say 1 normal and 2 pastels... the other 3 are throwing me a bit.

1 has dark specks on HER side, but has really nice flames.

2 are upside down... rotters. 1 of the upside downs has a nice faded head, but until I see HER flip over I am not sure. Could just be a nice faded head... and I do not know if Zoltan’s flames, etc... resulted from selective breeding, and could be from the normal parent of his... or if they are pastel markers.

When I cut the first egg I saw yellow and got all excited thinking PASTEL!... but it was the normal. SHE is peeking at me and has a nice yellow dorsal stripe.

Here are a few updated pics... do not mind the hack looking cut... all the yolk is stay in and the snips are big... but are OK.

Here is the faded head GIRL... not sure about HER

    http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...iblepastel.jpg

Here is the other high blush GIRL that I am not sure about.

    http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...highblush1.jpg

And lastly a group shot of 3.

    http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p.../groupshot.jpg

From top to bottom... Pastel. Possible (faded head). Normal... and yes, if you look close you’ll see 2 heads. :)

    Bruce

Ricking Racking Fracking halogens... even with a frosted flood light the pics are still yellow looking. :(
