Hmm.. Weird spot. Check it out (w/ pics)
Called my buddy... he hasn't seen these detailed pics; only crappy cell pics. He gave me treatment advice and says should get better after shed (shed is coming... cloudy eyes; flaky skin)
Doesn't look like a sore... not fleshy. I'm going to have my buddy look at him in a day or so....
Fishing for opinions this time with these detailed pics...

It may be helpful if you describe the problem as well...is it soft and mushy, is it crusty, hard or what. I can't help you but I just thought it might help others give you an idea as to what is going on. What s/he ever bitten by a rat or could it be scale rot? How long has it been there?

I hope you get an idea soon and more important, I hope everything is ok.

And I've not had this guy long...
Don't know the exact enviornment he came from.
Got him currently in a 55g (splicing/splitting it soon to around 30/25) for 2 habitats.
Have UTH on right and 75W heat lamp on top. Lamp runs on cycle (12 on 12 off) and UTH is left on. Have digital thermo..... at night (down time for lamp) ambient never drops below 75 (with thermo 1/2 way down the tank). During lamp cycle (with home AC wide-open) ambient stays around 85ish 1/2 way down tank) But UTH stays on the bottom and is directly under the hide. So floor temp should be around 89-90 on the floor

Just showed up within a couple of days... showed up about the time eyes turned cloudy.
It's crustyish and dark (brownish) in color. Not fleshy at all.....
He has not been bitten.... I watch him eat and have only fed him twice since I've had him.
He feeds live on male mice (2 per feeding)

Humidity goes between 50 and 58 but I put him in damp pillowcase when I first got him cause he didn't have complete shed. I plan on some moss in hide to raise it up some.

What about what he said there?
What is the texture of the wound?

    That is scale rot.

Clean it, keep it dry, and it should shed out...

Clean the setup as well. There is a reason why it is happening.. and the husbandry is first at fault.

    Thanks Lady
I talked to my friend again...
and the only change has been the uth under the hide I added last week. He is a bit against balls and a uth under the hide. I will be moving it to the side for ambient and treating with neosporin until the shed and will see what it looks like.
I've always used newspaper for substrate... and I do not mist the cage. The only reason we can come up with is the UTH under the hide and he's big.... curled up on himself and getting too warm/moist.

It's not as bad in person as that pic looks (light)
I just wouldn't think the uth would have caused that big of a difference....
I added it bring up belly temp after feeding but maybe it should have been on the same cycle instead of all the time. I should have called my buddy before I put in under there...
It's HOT and humid here in the south and I run my AC wide open and it brings the ambient down in the cage.... so I thought this would be a good idea. Obviously not....
He was basically in a sweat box I guess.... but I checked the floor temp often and it wasn't burn hot or anything...
I will be upgrading my bulb tomorrow to keep ambient up I guess and the small UTH is now on the rear side behind the hide.
No wonder he was pissy the other day.... I'm a bit embarressed over my ranting on that thread.
But it's obvious I have access to a friend who knows his shiz and you guys help.
Anyone else please feel free to jump in!
    More advice the better.......

    Let's hope this sheds off

One question that I don't see anyone has asked is, how are you regulating the UTH? Do you have it connected to a thermostat/rheostat/dimmer of any kind? I know you said you have digital thermo, but I'm guessing you mean thermometer and not thermostat. Also, do you have a digital thermometer with a probe to measure the surface temp under the hide? While it may not feel too hot to you, it may be too hot for your snake...
