Help! Owwww!
I'm lying in bed, not able to move my neck and it sucks haha.
I can't bend it back or side to side. When I move it's like my head it being ripped off. I'm sure this has happened to more people than just me...any suggestions?
Is there anything I can do for it?

Ouch! I'd take either naproxen or ibuprofen and lay on a heating pad on the highest setting for as long as you can stand!

I took four pain pills, not sure what kind. They don't seem to be helping.
I had a hot patch on but I just switched to ice. Should I switch back?

Re: Help! Owwww!
Yeah, ice doesn't really help to loosen up muscles. i would go with an actual plug-in heating pad if you have one

I don't think we do.:(
I'll have to check.

Put some uncooked rice in a long sock, tie it off and stick it in the microwave.

Re: Help! Owwww!
This is what the drs did for my fiances headache and neckache..

it was a constant for 6 months after he was hurt at work. They found that his brain had swelled and was putting pressure on his brain stem. So they removed a section of his skull to decompress it. that was now 3 months ago. And no more pain
Something you could try is alternating tylenol and motrin you can take them 2 hours apart. heres an example. take tylenol at 4 and motrin at 6 and then tylenol at 8.. That may help some.. Heat is probably the better thing if its just a muscle injury.

Ok guys, I found a heating pad and it feels amazing!
It took me a while to find though, I seriously thought about stealing the heating pad from my bearded dragon haha.

Re: Help! Owwww!
I think I'm going to go to the doctor to get some serious muscle relaxers or some pain killers. I'm dying.

Re: Help! Owwww!
There is this stuff called Bio-Freeze that you can buy over the counter I believe. This is what they recommended my mother use, she suffers from chornic back problems; I've also used it and the stuff is great :gj:

Re: Help! Owwww!
Did you wake up the other day like this? Any strenuous exercise? Have you tried stretching your neck?
Maybe your experiencing some pulled muscles, in which the only way to really keep loose is by stretching. It hurts, but afterwards you feel much better.
Or you could have a pinched nerve in your neck, where the nerve is being pushed on because of swelling, causing the pain.

Re: Help! Owwww!
The same thing use to happen to me when I was younger. I would wake up with it, and could not move my head at all. Every time I moved my head it almost brought me to tears. I would miss 2-3 days of work becuase of it. The way I would get rid of it was:
- lay down somewhere comfortable because you are going to be there for a while.
- put a heating pad under your neck and make it as hot as you can stand without pain
- rub icy/hot on your neck every 30mins or so
- I took 2 aspirin and 2 ibuprofen every 4 hours (i'm not a doctor, this is just what I did)
- slowly move your head from side to side/up and down to work it out.
Usually took 3 days for me to get back to 100%. I'm getting a MRI next month for neck pain and headaches. Not sure if the neck lock and what I have now are related.

When I got up I moved my neck really fast, I'm pretty sure I just pulled a muscle.
I'm going to run to Urgentcare real quick and get some pain killers or something. Thanx for all the help guys, I hope this goes away.

You can only get that stuff from a chiropractor or online.

My neck is pretty much ok now. Still kind of sore but I can deal with it.

Re: Help! Owwww!
Oh, and while I was in bed I watched like 12 movies haha so I think I'll do a little movie review thread for people who are sick and in bed.:)

Re: Help! Owwww!
Have you considered seeing a chiropractor? They may be able to help. Usually when I get a severe headache these days it's a sure sign that something in my neck is out of place.

Re: Help! Owwww!
Stiff necks scare the crap out of me now-a-days! The last time I had a stiff neck it turned out to be menengitis. But, I also had a migraine like you wouldn't believe, high fever and vomiting! Whenever my neck gets sore, I get scared!
Hopefully you just pulled a muscle or something is out of line which is probably the case. Feel better!
