Have fun though, Bassetts are known to be a dog that's a bit hard to train. It's not that they aren't smart, or won't learn...they'd rather just do things their way whenever possible. LOL

Whenever my older brother's Bassett got loose (a lot since you could not manage to keep that dog enclosed in any type of fencing!) we'd have to chase him all through that small village, hollering his name while he merrily yodelled his way through the neighbours yards. He always came home but only when it suited him and he was quite done putting the run on the local cat and chicken populations. What a goofball dog he was LOL.

They're so cute as puppies, but I'm not a huge fan of them when they get older. They get a little TOO droopy then for my tastes. :P

But I gotta admit, I'd love to snuggle up under those ears! :D
