Which Morphs to get - Your Thoughts Please
Hi all:D
I've got an opportunity to get my hands on some morph hatchlings come January.
Below is a list of what is available in my budget. I will be acquiring 3 from the list below and was wondering what your recommendations would be.
Pastel
Spider
Mojave
Het Albino Pair
Het Axanthic Pair
Cinnamon
Het Yellow Ghost Pair
Not the biggest selection, this breeder does have Piebalds, Albino's, Butter Ball, Bumblebee,Pewters, Yellow Ghost, and Spider Het Albino also available but these are currently out of my $$$ range.
I'm def going for a Pastel as it is a good base for many morphs.
So any thoughts would be welcome...
Thanks:gj:

a pastel female to raise up, a spider male to breed to normal females and the female pastel eventually, and a het albino pair
but thats just me

Re: Which Morphs to get - Your Thoughts Please
Personally, I would get two mojaves and either a spider or a pastel- either one a female, so then by the time I can afford a male I waill already have the female nice and big, hopefully :D

Pastel Male
Cinnimon Female
Spider Female
Pewters and bumblebees possible for your first time breeding. Then you can take a younger boy pewter and/or bumble bee and breed them back to both females for all kinds of things the following year. Pewter bees, cinnibees, super cinnimons, killer bees, bumble bees, cinnimons, spiders, and pastels.

Thanks all
I was first considering the Pastel, Spider and Mojave. I love the BEL that can come from Mojaves, just a super looking animal....
I'm now considering getting a Cinnamon instead of the Mojave (thx Gloryhound)
What other potential offspring can come of the balls in that list. Ideally I'd be looking at future potential with my selection....

Re: Which Morphs to get - Your Thoughts Please
1.0 pastel
0.1 spider
0.1 cinnamon
This gives you the opportunity to hatch out the following:
- pastels
- spiders
- cinnamon pastels
- bumble bees
- pewters
Definitely a good base of morphs to get you started.
If i was going to do it that way though, i would spend a little extra and get a male super pastel. You won't hatch out any normals this way, everything will at least be a pastel. Any of the babies that also get the spider or cinny gene will automatically be pewters or bumble bees .. no regular cinny's or spiders. Your odds will be doubled, so that each egg has a 50/50 chance of being a pewter or bumble bee from each respective mother.

A mojave male, a pastel female, and a het albino pair. You cant go wrong with albino's.

I personally really like all the cinnie/black crosses... pewters, cinnie spiders (cinnabee i think?), etc. But the cinnabee I think is a really underappreciated morph.

Have to really agree with this if you can afford it. A super pastel male in any collection is an instant morph maker. Never have to worry about what to do with normal looking off spring if you go that route. A really nice looking super Lemon would be even better. Just remember to pick morphs that are as nice as possible and top quality examples of the morph. Skimping by buying poor quality animals will just cause regret later.

Re: Which Morphs to get - Your Thoughts Please
Great... Thanks for the replies all
As I said before I'll definately go for a pastel and a spider, I'm now looking at Cinnamon instead of a Mojave. I'd love to breed a BEL but it seems that the Cinnamon would give more bang for buck, and the Super-Cinnamons look nice too!
I'm also on the verge of picking up a 100% Het Albino Pair(20 months old) to get my Albino flava going.
I've also starting putting together a breeding plan with the various morphs detailed above.
I've got the basic concept of breeding with Recessive, Co-Dom and Dom gene's but I'm struggling to figure out what happens when you breed a recessive to a dom/co-dom.
Have a look and see if this makes sense (based on 4 egg clutch). I would like to make a Spider Albino.
Het albino x het albino = 1 x Albino + 3 x 66% het albino's
Albino x Spider = 4 x Spiders het albino (not sure if they would all be 100% het albino) I'm assuming all offspring would look like spiders due to it being a dom gene.
Would I then need to breed the Spider het albino back to the albino? To the spider? or would I breed the offspring to each other to get a Albino Spider?
