Everything shipped from state to state on the east coast generally goes to Tennessee. The main Fedex sort faculity for the Eastern US is in Tenn.

Daniel is right. Their main sort facility is in Tenn.
It is kind of funny to ship something from Texas to Washington state and have it get there by way of Tenn.
Re: fedex.. out of the way?
Whenever I ship an animal the first thing I do is call Fed Ex(or whoever you are using) and ask them the exact route. Then I check the temps at the different locations along the route and pack the animals accordingly. If you dont know where the package is going to stop you wont know what temps the animals will be subjected to and wont know what precautions to take(heat pack, cool pack, nothing). This something that you should do before they ever leave your possesion.
Re: fedex.. out of the way?
I am going to do that from now on. I knew that I did not need heatpacks though, as our temperatures in NY were warm enough, and the national weather looked good (no freezing anywhere.) I don't plan on shipping anything in the winter months.. too paranoid.
