    Itty, Bitty, Baby!
Here is my favorite crestie hatchling so far. She is so sweet, and is the only one that will allow me to really take pics of her.

I am really not sure what to call her color wise. She is a cutie pie though.

She's cute! Looks like a yellow partial pinstripe flame at the moment, but as we know the colors can change. :)

Very cool! Maybe she will turn orange like dad and maybe even be a creamsicle (her grandfather is a creamsicle)? It will be interesting to see. :)

I couldn't get it in the pics due to bad lighting, but she actually almost has a rich orange/red color to her when she is all fired up. Its really neat. I will have to try and get some pics of her when she is really all colored up.

She is.. she is the sweetest baby I have. She loves to climb up your finger and wrap her tail around it and just watch everything. She is really mellow.

As soon as I get her fired up I will definitely get some more pics. She looks so pale to me the pics I have up now.

These little babies are so cute though.

Oh and I have 1 egg that is only 2 days older than another set of eggs and it is freakin' HUGE. Its like the size of two eggs. I weighed it and it weighs 4 grams, the others only weigh 2 grams.:O
I think its going to be a really big baby lol

I know, I keep wondering that too. Except the only twin cresties I have ever seen were all conjoined:( So that worries me a bit.

Twins are possible but not common. Out of all the eggs I have hatched I had only one that was twins and they were conjoined (they actually died prior to hatching). I've never actually weighed any of my eggs but now I'm curious--4 grams for one egg seems huge! I do have some females that lay slightly bigger than normal eggs and they always blow up and get way bigger than the other eggs do before hatching.

Ok I just weighed a few of my eggs and the largest weighed 3 grams, but those aren't the largest I've had, so I guess 4 grams isn't so abnormal after all--definitely not the average size, but not extraordinary either. Learn something every day! :P

    Re: Itty, Bitty, Baby!
Someone mentioned something about how much eggs weighed before hatching. Saying they were usually about 2 grams.

Post its eggs are usually about 2 grams right before they hatch. Sometimes 3. I haven't had one hit the 4 gram mark besides this one. It just looks so much bigger.

This one egg is just huge though. Its covered in the little stretch marks. If it grows anymore its going to burst.

    Re: Itty, Bitty, Baby!
2 grams is a good normal weight for a hatchling, so I guess it stands to reason that if you add in the egg and the fluid in it 3 grams is pretty normal/average. It does depend on several factors though, like how big the mother is (generally speasking smaller females have smaller eggs and larger ones have larger eggs), how the individual female's eggs tend to develop (I have one girl that doesn't lay particularly large eggs but they usually grow larger than the others), what part of the season you are in (the very first and very last eggs a female lays each season are sometimes smaller), etc.
