    Half Veined egg
I was candling a few eggs, and I found an egg that had all the veins on one end. Half of the egg is "empty"

The animal is still alive, and the blood is still pumping, but... I've never had this problem before.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem before???

    Re: Half Veined egg
Well, I'm no expert here since I'm incubating my first clutch...but even candling that one clutch I found tremendous variation within the veins. Some were strong and robust...another egg I was less certain about because it just had veins on the very, very top of it and none down the sides. I could barely see anything in there.

They are all doing well 40 days later though.

    Maybe it's just totally random??

first clutch this year from my pastel to normal Produced 7 eggs. one egg was like that and went bad starting on day 22. it started turning yellow and i knew it was going to go bad. im guessing if the egg doesnt turn you should be fine and it will be more like a boob egg and produce a small baby.

I actually recall bouncing this one..

I'm concerned it will be a deformed baby, so in a week or two, I will report back..

I had an egg look like that in my last clutch. When it was first laid I candled it and it looked like that.

But I remembered listening to Reptile Radio one day and Larry or BT mentioned something about eggs like that. And I can't remember if they said you should lay it with the veins at the bottom or at the top. So I gambled and took bottom. Now the whole egg appears red with veins.

The veining it does have looks nice and healthy, my guess is you may just get a smaller hatchling out of the egg. Pretty neat though, keep us updated!:gj:

I have a whole clutch of lesser eggs that look like that (8 eggs). Some with less infertile area than yours and some with a bit more. I remembered reading somewhere that you should put the infertile part down so I did. I am only on week 2 of incubation but so far every egg looks fine. It's probably too late for you to turn that egg though. How far along is it?

I would not worry too much if you are that far along. I bet it will come out fine, you may end up with a 30g hatchling though. When do you cut?

I try not to, to be honest...

They are still looking good, and I have been told a stern NO by the SO. He hid the scissors...

I've had them go the half route and hatch fine, that will just be the 'special' egg. You should name it PC. :O

Good luck with that little one, Heather.

The wait is not fun... I was ok for the first 50 days because I tried to ignore the eggs except for weekly checks. Now I'm checking them twice a day and candling like crazy. Day 55 is tomorrow - I may have to snip....

Nice Heather. It does have kind of a funky pattern on it, (from what little I can see) what was the female? Is this part of your pied clutch or is this pied X normal?

Only the one clutch, the Pied to Het.

It is funky, isn't it? I have no idea what sex it is. Hopefully it will be out today or something, so that I can sex it..
