Re: Red Coastal Clutch Hatched...
thanks for the response everyone...
as far as the background, i will post that up here once i go back to the records... i don't have any names. the dam came from california and the sire is from michigan. both are coastals but most likely not documented welll enough for your tastes nick. ;) just messin' with you...
the two in the picture are actually not twins. at that point i hadn't separated the eggs and the snake on the bottom actually slit the egg above and crawled right through to the top. there was one set of twins and they are extremely small... one actually died in the egg, while the other seems to be doing well so far.
Re: Red Coastal Clutch Hatched...
I have hatched quite a few pairs of twins and even a set of triplets . Complications with them and stillbirths are quite common. There reallys is just not enough room in those little eggs for more than one.
With the survivng twin, just dont let it go very long without food. If it does not start eating fairly soon its best not to wait before assist feeding. Twins generally lack the large yolk reserve of a full sized hatchling.

here's the sire and dam... the hatchlings weren't really as i expected but they are better than i had hoped, so i'm not complaining. i'm still waiting on the little guys to shed.
