    I think my corn's gone craaaazy...
    Um... Just walked in to this.
    W.T.F...

    There are 4 things going on here. 1, he managed to get newspaper pieces in his water bowl, AGAIN, after I just changed it a few hours ago. 2, he dumped his water bowl and pushed all his hides to one side. 3, he decided his wet, newspaper covered water bowl would make a great hide... And 4, he managed to get newsprint stains all over his head.

    Me = :O :taz:

    No matter what freaking substrate I put down, this guy manages to mess it up!! AHHHHHHH!!! He likes to burrow so I like to have some crumpled pieces in there so he doesn't get too bored... But he KEEPS dumping them in his water bowl, continually... I think he is trying to drive me nuts!

    If anyone else has a mischevious corn like this, what substrate do you use...?

    LOL... that is cute! Yours reminds me of my mischief loving ghost male who also loves dumping bedding in his water. All my corns, but especially my males, love tunneling so much that I just give them the 1/2 inch of shredded aspen on top of a sheet of newsprint and suffer the regular water changes. :) It's fun waking up to see nothing but a cute head poking out of an aspen tunnel.

    You know, I hadn't thought of doing newspaper + aspen. That is a pretty good idea, even though he will probably find some other way to annoy me with it. Although I am not going to be using newsprint with ink on it anymore - only the blank stuff, on account of this ugly black mess that's all over my corn's tub as well as his head.

    He drives me nuts but I love him! He cracks me up on a daily basis!! :D

    Oh my! You have to watch that. I had a corn that liked to dump his water bowl and he ended up with a nice case of scale rot. I guess from sitting in water soaked bedding. Having them exposed to that wet bedding all the time can cause problems faster than you would think.

    I have that same little log hide for one of my corns!

    I just switched my larger corn over to newspaper and she doesn't seem to happy about it, its always a mess now. I keep my smaller one on aspen and she loves it, if they mess that up its not too hard to just stick your hand in there and flatten it back down.
    Usually my boas and pythons are the ones that mess up the water dish and destroy the cage like that, maybe get a heavier (ceramic?) water dish for the snake so it cannot tip it over.

    Corns are crazy by nature :) I use repti-bark so that he can tunnel and it doesn't disturb much. I use a large dog bowl for a water bowl. He has never over-turned it.

    Good point. I use ceramic cat dishes for my corns and the only problem I have is bedding in the water. :) Heavier dishes = no turn-overs.

    That indeed is crazy!!! I hope my milk doesn't ever do anything like that on a regular basis, I know you've been here a lot longer than I have, but the first thing I thought was is the humidity right? It looks like your corn is trying to get some moisture, I am probably wrong and you just have a delinquent corn snake :P ha

    :yes: Will do. Although I just know he will come up with some other way to cause mischief... I'm going to just accept that right now! :D

    And ev477: Corns generally don't need much in the way of humidity. He is perfectly fine and sheds in 1 piece every time... just being mischevious!! :)
