Bioshock
So I finally gave in and bought Bioshock yesterday... Has anybody else played that game?
It's the most terrifying suspenseful game I've ever played besides FEAR and it might even be more eerie than that game...

I liked it a lot, and I agree about your comparison with FEAR. The atmosphere is amazing is both games.

Oh, I am so glad to hear this because the kids got it for me for my birthday but haven't set it up yet. I'm still getting through Doom!

Re: Bioshock
No doubt...I was playing FEAR in the dark with headphones (surround sound)....Playing a game like that is FAR scarier than any movie I've ever seen. Take a 300 pound beast and compare it to a little freaky 6 year old and that little girl will win all the time...she gave me the heebeejeebee's when she would run around and then disappear.
I had the pleasure of meeting one of the guys who was very heavily involved with the creation of that game...he's a teacher at a school down here in Orlando called Full Sail..he was telling me about all these easter eggs that they put in..

Re: Bioshock
Hi,
Fear was ok but I prefered alien V's predator 2 playing as the marine - you knew no matter what that sound was you were probably hosed. :taz:

Re: Bioshock
My BF, Ari, just started playing it and he feels that the game is very 'trippy'. Of course, he just finished Mass Effect, which was awesome, that gave him a different view of gaming and made it a bit hard to switch over to a FPS. Not his strongpoint form.
Personally, I watched almost all of Mass Effect and watched him start Bioshock...it's a shock alright. Do Not play that game if you have a headache! Geez...weird stuff. We'll let you know how it progresses, but as of now (one hour in) it's more disturbing than frightening.

Re: Bioshock
I'm currently playing bioshock, I think I'm nearing the end of it. So far it's awesome!! The ambiance that it sets is down right creepy. Very different from these futuristic worlds or zombie worlds.

Re: Bioshock
bioshock is sick. I got about halfway through it, and my housemate just beat it for the second time yesterday.

Re: Bioshock
I absolutely love Bioshock. A true gaming masterpiece, in my opinion. :)

Re: Bioshock
I'm addicted to it. I played for a good 4 hours today. Luckily I'm a master of shooters so taking zombies down isn't to terribly bad but until I found the Telekineses the grenades made me use a couple health boosters. Overall I would say so far I can see why Bioshock was as awarded as it was. Definitely Trippy/Disturbing/Creepy all in one. Awesome Game. My gamertag on the 360 is V1L3 DiaL3cT so go ahead and add me sometime if you want.

Re: Bioshock
4 hours?? You think that's a lot??? Ari averages 12 hours a day for gaming, and sometimes will play all day if I let him. :)

Re: Bioshock
I loved Bioshock! I passed it twice, good and evil endings. Although there are two other alternate endings, but I won't give anything away. The easter eggs were great, too.
The soundtrack was really sweet. Cohens Masterpiece will be a permanent addition to my iPod.
If you'd like to download the Bioshock Score in mp3 format, you may do so here:

As far as I know you can't buy it separately and it was only included in the limited edition DVD release. Enjoy!

Re: Bioshock
I totally played it on the computer, but I've never played FPS's on the computer before. I just can't get into the controls! Maybe if I get a serial controller? I bet it would be sweet on the Xbox though!
I love the atmosphere of the game...it's like the 1950's meets outerspace.

It's like the 1950's meets Outerspace meets Black Sabbath's Planet Caravan and Heavy Metal all in one... It may be the best thing ever lol

Yeah no kidding, so scary! As a matter a fact that was like 1 year ago and I still see things moving around my house. Actually now more than ever. That game never came up in my mind and I am seeing really weird stuff everywhere. Like people in my room. or a little girl playing with a doll, or someone on the phone at 2 in the morning. I will wake up and see the phone being held by someone to their ear then blink and its all normal. EEEEEEE! so weird.

Re: Bioshock
Bioshock is a badass game. It's not so much scary as it is creepy. It's very atmospheric.
Now for scary, I thought Condemned was up there... Fatal Frame, Siren, F.E.A.R....
