WOO!! First litter!! (possible DUW)

Yay! My fawn female Cherry (yes I name all my animals) had her litter first today, and the brown girl is due any time now.

They're tiny little pink beans! OMG, so strange to see such a small animal. Literally the size of a bean, how crazy. I thought I counted 17. Not bad at all!

It is AMAZING how they can breed back to back to back to back to back to back, and get stronger with each litter.

Well lets hope so. :) They were such sweet hearts when I checked on them. That girl came and said hi, and dashed for the food bowl. LOL

Dad is a wuss, the other girl is nervous. I would expect one of those two to bite, but they didn't. We'll see how the brown girl fairs when she has a litter.

Awesome litter! They are super cute..mom is so pretty.

Congrats Connie. I think that newborn ASF's are so ugly they are kind of cute LOL.

One of my females that had her 1st litter a few weeks ago is about to pop again. :)

How cool!

It seems like the "white ends" is so far dominant to the head stripe. From what little I can see, it has either widened the head stripe, or made the head and butt completely white.

Awww - I just got my first litter. Not sure exactly when they were born as I don't check them every single day, but they look like your first set of pictures - just 10 babies, but I'm thrilled all the same!

:D One more week and we'll have crawlers! I'm going to start updating this every 3-4 days now. *sniff* they grow up so fast.

3 days after thier eyes open they look EXACTLY like TINY adults. That is when they are the cutest in my opinion.... when they get to that point take a picture of one standing next to mom or dad.

We have crawlers at day 11! It's funny to see them squirm like a pile of worms when the mothers leave. :)

I can’t wait for my females to have some ugly babies. :D

One of my female should be having her first babies soon probably in the next few days (and of course I’ll be gone), can’t wait to have my first litter of ASF, they just so ugly it makes them cute. ;)

Yeah... that "squirming" is the wierdest thing in the world... it is like they vibrate and jump around... like jumping beans on crack! someone should take a video of the "ASF BABY JIGGLE" So others can see what I am talking about... It is just startling the first time you see it!

The babies are 18 days old, just shy of 3 weeks. They're eyes Have been open for 3 days, they are mastering their jumping skills and so far can just about jump out of a 20 gallon long tank. :O

As Mike would say, they are miniature versions of their parents. ;) And the moms are definitely ready to pop in the next 5 days.

So moms about to pop again?? Don't you just love it!!?? The thing I find most remarkable about ASF'S is the way the females were made to have back to back litters their entire reproductive life. You will see litter after litter after litter, the moms get bigger, stronger, and more healthier looking with each new litter!

Well, I'm stopping the litters after this second one. Dad's been removed. I've read many sites online from Europe that declare these rats to be incredibly welcoming of strangers of their and other species, I guess I'll be putting that to the test in the future.

Dad's going to be in with the boys in the next few weeks, as he's already been removed from the First mother as she gets ready to birth these next few days to avoid another pregnancy.

Please report back on how that goes. I tried it once, and it was a total blood bath. Freaked me out enough to NEVER try it again.

Aww, cute! Yea, I need to start breeding my own ASF soon, as soon as I can find where to get some around here. I have a couple picky eaters in the bunch...

I wanted to try and throw a small rat in my ASFs tub to get the scent on it for 30 minutes but am hesitant to see if any destrcuction is done. Guess the only way is to throw it in there and watch the whole time.

Don't do it. they will immediately fight. Just take the ASF's out of their tub, and put them in a temporary container. then put the small rat in the empty ASF tub. Let him run around it for a little while and you will accomplish the same thing.
