    You People are Terrible
You should all be ashamed of yourself, with your beautiful pictures of wonderful boas. You convinced me to get one. :D We stopped by the store today to get some feeders and I had hoped to find a baby male colombian red-tail boa and sure enough, they had three baby boas.

I asked the guy who worked there to sex them and the two "normals" were both girls and the pastel was a girl, so they had no boys. :( While he was sexing the other two, we were holding this gorgeous girl and she was just as calm as could be. Well we ended up bringing her home. No name yet, but I could not be more excited.

    Pics to come soon.

Sorry, our friend who lives down the street wanted to come by and see the new baby before we put her up in her tank. We are so proud of our friend. He held a snake for the first time and actually liked her. After holding our new boa, he wanted to see us feed the ball pythons, so we got all washed up and fed the ball pythons. They thought it was really interesting how they swallow the prey whole. Its nice to introduce people to new experiences. :D

Pictures coming soon. Just need to resize them.

    Re: You People are Terrible
Oh and question. We didn't find this until we brought her home but while having her move through our hands, we felt a tiny little bump near her tail end. Its on her side and a few inches (3-5 inches) from her tail. Its under the skin and very small but other than the skin being raised (not swollen though) there is no sign of injury. Its not open or swollen or anything like that. Just a little bump. Anyone know what this could be? You can't really take a picture since its so small.

Well, you know the routine: You got her from a pet store and so now you go to the vet for a check up and parasite check. Take a stool sample and have the vet check out what the bump is... Could it just be a kink?

Yea, I'm really wanting to take her out of her cage right now, but I'm trying to let her settle in. We are going to set up a vet appointment. (maybe try and get one in today).

I am falling in love with boas. I think I'm going to try and find a boy next year. :)

    Re: You People are Terrible
I feel, with boas, that getting accustomed to their new environment includes getting accustomed to their new keeper and this lesson was taught to me by Sharon Moore, a respected breeder who has been breeding boas for a long time.
Feel free to take your boa out of the cage and handle her! She is not a ball python and she needs to get used to you also!! :gj:

    Re: You People are Terrible
We love to handle her. She is so much nicer to handle than the ball pythons. She is curious and much more active. I have to start being a bit slower though. With my ball pythons, I can make quick movements and they don't seem to care. This little girl struck at me this morning when I moved past her too fast. If I move nice and slow, she will let me even get close to her head, so slow movements are good around her.

We don't have a name for her yet but we have a few ideas. :) Oh and she has a vet appointment tomorrow so I'll post on how that goes. I love this girl so much. I'm so glad we got her. :)

    Re: You People are Terrible
Her name is Isis. The vet appointment went well. She says that the bump could just be nothing and she took a good look at it. She said to watch it and let her know if its still there after her next shed. She said overall, she looks healthy and she has a good personality. They loved her. We'll have to wait for the fecal. The vet said she felt some poo in her system and it should come out soon so we'll just take that sample up there when she decides to go to the bathroom.

Oh and she is 54g. I think thats what I heard them say, so I'll check on my scale tonight.

The best boa owners know that the Stars should have been in the playoffs and beat the pants off the Wings, they got lucky.......

Well I doubt my girl will have a favorite team. We don't watch sports around here. :D

I am getting soooo hooked on her. One thing I noticed is she does not utilize the hides we gave her. She just curls up in the corner behind it or stretches out between them. Do boas tend to ignore hides? Should I remove hers or keep them in there?
