Cuban Boas are more in relation to Anaconda's if I'm not mistaken, right?

They are pretty nippy when they are young and may musk...With frequent handling they will usually grow out of this. My adults are a little aggressive, but I don't handle them often. Mine are very curious and out going snakes.
My pair is fairly small, I would guess my female is around 7' and the male about 4'...Although females can hit the 12' range.
They have very small litters, usually under 10. The babies are pretty big though.

Re: Cuban Boa
Wow, they are really neat looking. I wonder why they are not as popular as some boas?
Are there any proven morphs within this species?

They are Endangered and they have small litters are a couple reason why you don't see more...Also some say they're hard to breed.
There are no Cuban Morphs I'm aware of...

Ok, I see some resemblance there as well. 12 feet, huh? Daaanggg, that's a mighty big Rainbow! lol. The scientific names with snakes aren't very well classified. I'd like to own one of those bad boys when/if you have any for sale.

Re: Cuban Boa
Hi Jon - she looks great, good luck with the litter ;)
Do you keep any other West Indian Epicrates? I have some angulifer, subflavus, fordi and straitus fowleri. There are very few people working with these boas these days it seems.
Regards, Ryan

Re: Cuban Boa
Ohhhh Jon I saved this thread to my favorites! :)
My husband, Mike, every time we visit our local zoo, spends forever watching their Cuban Boa. He's determined to someday own one but I wasn't aware any of our membership actually bred them!
The one at the Toledo Zoo is a gorgeous specimen (all their snakes are very well kept) and definitely something I can see us owning one day. Can't wait to see the baby pics from yours!
Mike dreams of his Cuban Boa, meanwhile I'm a few exhibits down drooling over the Angolan Python. :)

Re: Cuban Boa
So many cool lesser known new world boa species...I've always liked the Epicrates striatus (Haitian boa?)...but the Cuban sounds really cool too. Can't wait to see babies!
