Pit bull saves owner from Samurai-sword-wielding boyfriend

A domestic dispute that included the use of a Samurai sword and a pit bull led a Jamestown man to jump out a second-floor window Monday night, before he was apprehended hiding between some mattresses on a nearby porch, Jamestown police said.

The incident began at about 8:10 p.m., when a concerned neighbor called 911 to report a loud domestic dispute on West 10th Street. Police later learned that a 27-year-old man had punched his girlfriend in the head and put the sword to her throat, before her pit bull bit him several times, police said.

As officers were interviewing the 28-year-old woman, a neighbor told police that the man had jumped out the bedroom window. Wearing only jeans and socks, he was tracked down by the Jamestown police K-9 Unit and found lying between several mattresses stacked vertically on a West 10th Street back porch.

Officers charged Nicholas Clark of North Main Street with assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.

My neighbors female Pit got out late one night and they wouldn't answer their gate so me and my boyfriend had to watch it for about 30 hours.. she was the sweetest dog I have ever met, she just wanted to play all the time and roll around.
I would love to get a pit but I've got a lot of cats and don't want to risk anything.. One of my good friends moms got 2 standard poodles and they killed her cat, after hearing that story I won't be getting a dog anytime soon :(

My pitty gets jelous if I hug my b/f or anyone else...she will try and shove her way in between me and the other person or sit there and bark until I pet her - I know what she would do if anyone tried to hurt me. But she is a big suck:) Great post!

If someone broke into my house they would have to have a vacuum in their hands to get her pissed! She hates the vacuum. lol otherwise...she may just lick them to the deaths!

I call her my pitfool :giggle: but I love her and she is my best friend.

That is wonderful!!!!! I love pit bulls, and I'm so tired of the negative press and how much people believe it.
By the way, I have 2 pit bulls and 5 cats, they have never bothered the cats at all. In fact the bigger of the two pits gently played with one of our cats as a kitten and is still extremely gentle with her.

Sadly just today Livingston County Michigan put into effect a law that any Pit Bull, Staffordshire Terrier or American Bull Dog found running loose will not be adopted out but will be put to death instead. They will hold the dog once found for a few days to allow the owner to claim it. The owner will be hit with such unreasonable fines upon claiming the dog that the County hopes that the owners will not claim them. The County would prefer to execute the dogs rather than return them. This is a law passed because last year dogs killed a horse in a stall and in a separate incident a crazy woman that owned a large piece of land had a pack of American Bull Dogs running loose that had become more or less feral and killed 2 elderly people out walking.

That's awesome!! I've only known a few pits and american bulldogs, and they all have been sweet dogs. It's refreshing to see something like that, finally...

My sister has a boxer and last year some irresponsible person's pit attacked someone's small dog. The newspaper ran a story with a picture of a BOXER. Her fiance walked to the grocery store with their boxer the next day and left him tied outside for a couple minutes (as usual) and when he came out he got screamed at by a police officer for leaving a "vicous, dangerous" dog unsupervised. Ugh. Poor Mahlon was lying on the ground behind his daddy cowering. He later called the newspaper and had a few choice words with them...

They were pits, I have nothing against them, though. I'm not saying they're bad dogs. I apologize for "ruining" this thread, I was just saying....

The media loves to focus on pitbulls being the "bad" dogs... but they fail to report all the other dog attacks that happen daily with all kinds of different breeds of dogs! Its sad, really. :( I'm glad there was finally a good story about them! Of course, the story was still a "pitbull attack" though at least this time they have it so it sounds like the dog was in the right! ;)

Well I for one am happy to hear a positive take on pits for once. Bet she's loving her dog right now.
