How do you watch movies??
Just wanted to see how many people have blu-rays, hd dvd, plain old dvds, or prehistoric vhs.
I have a sharp aquios blu-ray playing on a 48in. samsung lcd (1080P) and blasting a bose lifestyle home theater. :teevee:
No need to go to the movie theaters anymore.
Re: How do you watch movies??
I have a 37 inch lcd (720 p). Right now I just have a regular dvd player but in the next few weeks will be getting a ps3 so then I'll have blueray. Sound comes from a 1000 watt 7.1 onkyo stereo. The stereo is one step down from the THX certified model so pretty decent sound. Not too shabby for a dorm room.
Re: How do you watch movies??
I have a $12K home theater setup and am waiting for Blu-ray to become more prevalent before switching from dvd and committing to it. Once it does I'll drop the money for a Blu-ray player and a new 1080p plasma display.
Re: How do you watch movies??
None of the above. 1080P MKV files played on my home-theater PC/Projector.
Re: How do you watch movies??
I didn't vote because more than one apply. I have my DVD with component output hooked to my 37" 780p TV. I also have a laptop with HD-DVD (I bought it not long before they announced the HD-DVD was being discontinued) that I also connect to my 37" via HDMI.
Re: How do you watch movies??
I am still using rabbit ears. :D
Re: How do you watch movies??
I burn dvd's from the computer then watch them on my 360
Re: How do you watch movies??
We used to have a projector which made the "screen" 72" by 60" but we don't have it anymore:(. These days we either use the DVD player (it's the portable kind so it's not that big) for DVDs or the color monitor (I think we've had it since the early '90s) for video casettes.
P.S. In order to "nostagialize" you even more, I'll tell you that we don't have television.
Re: How do you watch movies??
Movies??? Do they still make them?? I haven't watched a movie in about 3 years!!:O
Re: How do you watch movies??
Just upgraded my stereo system and now I watch movies either on directv high def, or PS3 Blu-ray.
Re: How do you watch movies??
we have blu-ray capability, but we rarely use it.
once in a while we'll purchase a blu-ray disc for special movies that we think the picture will be worth the extra cost
but mostly we watch regular DVD
we do record in HD on our TiVo whenever we can though
Re: How do you watch movies??
DVD right now. I'll get a PS3 though to watch blu-ray on hopefully in the next year or so. Hopefully more titles will be out by then as well.
Re: How do you watch movies??
Primarily we watch DVDs, but we have a combo player and a sizable collection of VHS as well :)

Re: How do you watch movies??
Here's the "real deal" on how we watch movies in our house....
- make popcorn and curl up with my husband to watch a DVD we've been trying to find time for a week to watch
- get up 6 times to tell the 7 year old that no he CANNOT watch the movie with mom & dad
- pause the movie twice because apparently a movie makes the dog need to pee RIGHT NOW!
- eat cold popcorn and attempt to remember what the movie is about
- stop the movie to answer the phone 4 times because everyone I know has suddenly become psychic and felt the urge to contact me immediately
- sit back down, realize that the dog just ate the darn popcorn, had a huge drink because it was salty and now needs to pee yet again
- start the movie again, curl up and immediately fall asleep and miss the whole darn thing anyways! (this will be followed tomorrow by my darling husband telling me how the movie ended which of course makes it pointless to even try to watch the darn thing another night!)
Oh and yeah we have a DVD player.
