Peeking Out - Clutch #2
What a great thing to see when you look into an incubator. I'll never get tired of this!
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...-05-19--08.jpg
These are Dori (normal) and Riordan's (yellowbelly) offspring.
The one with it's head poking out (far left) actually seemed to be stuck a bit. I checked back a few times and it seemed to be having trouble with the small slit it made (silly thing should have used the big old hole I made it!) Eventually I did carefully make his/her entrance a bit bigger and then the poor thing was able to retract it's head more easily. It was actually at one point twisting a bit as if trying to figure out what in the world mess it had gotten itself into LOL. Probably would have sorted itself out without my help but hey, I'm still nervous about all this stuff.

It's the "sharing the brain" syndrome - it doesn't shock me any longer - it seems to be an unavoidable affliction when you become a member of this forum and a friend! :)

I am glad to see they are all doing well. I told you it'd be OK. Don't kick yourself so hard next time. How many YB's do you see so far?

Yep you did Tim. I'm never sure when it comes to "seeing" YB's in the egg so I'll let you know when they are all out and I can give them a good look over.

Okay John now you are starting to scare me! Are you sneaking in to peek in my bator now? You got it dead on. All 5 came out today and the count is 2.1 Yellowbelly and 0.2 Normals. They'll all be resexed a few times to be sure but that's it for right now. Pics to follow as soon as I finish resizing them. :)

I suck at belly shots, Nick. They always come out blurry. :( It's either my bad skills or my less than great camera but I got what I could for tonight. I don't want to stress the little ones too much on their first night in the big wide world of our BP room.

Thanks Kara! We are so stoked to have a 100% hatch rate on both our clutches so far this year and to have all 11 babies lined up in their little tubs in the new hatchling rack. I just want to sit in the BP room all day, staring at them and mumbling "omg omg omg we really made snake babies, we finally made snake babies" LOL
Thanks always for being on the other end of that phone line Kara when the nerves got to me. Biggest hugs!

Re: Peeking Out - Clutch #2
I know how frustrated you were after last season, so it's such a joy to see how successful you are now. This is just a sign of things to come.
They are a beautiful bunch of babies!

Awww, Jo!!!
They're beautiful!!!!!!! All five of them - Dori and Riordan made pretty babies!!!!
I like Male #1 a lot - I love his back pattern! Which one was the one you were telling me had such a cool looking pattern? The female YB is pretty hot too! Now we need Ms. B to lay her clutch and do the countdown!

It was Male #1. I knew you would like his markings, Robin. I love how his dorsal pattern just sort of melts into his sides markings. Hopefully Ms. B will get off her fat butt and drop me some eggs soon. :)

Re: Peeking Out - Clutch #2
Congrats Jo on the new wee ones....
-
Re: Peeking Out - Clutch #2
Thanks Carl! I need to get my butt in gear and take new pics of the first clutch now that they've had the first shed cycle (yes Robin I will do this today, I promise! LOL).
-
Re: Peeking Out - Clutch #2
Congrats Jo. They look great. The #1 male is definitely a looker. Now you can call yourself a seasoned professional snake breeder.
-
Re: Peeking Out - Clutch #2
very nice yb's!!
I am a sucker for reduced patterns!
-
Re: Peeking Out - Clutch #2
well damn no the incubator is empty no more rushing home counting days till they come out of the eggs. it's great to see all the little snakes healthy.

Oh heck no Tim! Mike and I are light years from that but we're just feeling very blessed with the 11 little darlings all line up in a rows right now. :)

Yep he did, to the exact count both in morphs and gender....spooky isn't it. I'm going to check the windows, I think Jas sneaks in at night like a freaky Easter Bunny or something LOL.

Re: Peeking Out - Clutch #2
Hey Jo,
A bit late on this thread... but wow, those babes are hot. :)
I saw the one that Rab is making off with, what a great little snake, and that female YB is just going to a stunner.
Congrats to you and Mike both. You must be just beyond contented.

Thanks Bruce! All 11 hatchlings are doing very well. My very long streak of not being bitten however is well and truly broke. Last time a snake nailed me was back in 2005 I think, maybe 2006 but so far two of the 08's have nailed me LOL. I figured the one female YB would manage it, she tried to get me when she was only about 1 hour out of the egg. Robin's boy got me too and while I was on the phone talking with Robin! Reached in to check him and WHAP, got me! :D

Heh... he is just trying to create a buzz for himself.
Sounds like Robin may need to get the paddle out... momma always said "naughty snakes need discipline!"
I haven't been tagged in 18 months (Linda nailed me early into our relationship) but I anticipate a few kisses from baby snakes in the next while.
Did you make a decision (that you can share) regarding the beautiful little YB female from the first clutch? Is she making the trek to Texas? Or is she a keeper?
I suspect that you're keeping her, but I am out of the loop.
Bruce
