I'm in love.....
with my eggs!
I haven't messed with them since they laid other than to open the 'bator once a day to just make sure they were not dimpling, egg boxes not sweating, and temps were fine.
Today I said to myself "I NEED to see my eggs!". Took both egg boxes out and re-candled them (one clutch is six days old, one clutch is four days old). Still nice strong veins, no dimpling of the eggs, firm but nice give when touching them.
I just fell in love with them all over! Am I a goof or what? It's just such a sense of accomplishment to have spent this time lovingly raising my babies to the day that they would produce eggs, and I'm already in love with these babies who are nothing more than yolk right now.
Are you an egg lover too? :P

Re: I'm in love.....
Robin - stop making me want to run out and buy a female - any female, and toss her in with my little guy (o.k I would NEVER do that but your given me the itch) I plan on waiting a good few years until I'm done college before I try to breed. I hope you get fat healthy babies, and all your hard work will pay off!
-
Re: I'm in love.....
I'm hoping to breed a few out in a couple years and I don't think anything would be cooler than producing little ones and taking care of them from the time they drop til the time they come out all unsure of their surroundings/balance... I'm jealous. Can't wait to see pics. Congrats Robin!

Re: I'm in love.....
You describe exactly what I did and how I felt when I did it, just don't want to talk about it......you know I have a reputation to maintain (can't let people think I am sensitive like that :8:)

Re: I'm in love.....
I must stare through the window of my incubator 20 times a day at my gecko eggs - can't wait until I have snake eggs to stare at too!!
-
Re: I'm in love.....
I know the feeling, Robin. I could just spend hours gazing at the eggs thinking of the years it's been working to this point raising the parents and the years ahead with these new snakes yet to hatch. Of course, you have to pop them back into the bator but it's awful nice to do some egg bonding (gawd we are saps aren't we LOL).
Wish I could be there to see your face when that first head pops out of an egg. It's just simply a moment of magic. :)

Re: I'm in love.....
LOL...I'm an egg lover...I do the same thing Robin...I went through every clutch last night...It's really cool when their big enough that you can see them move...Just wait till their little heads are poking out...

Re: I'm in love.....
I WANT EGGS! maybe this year.

Re: I'm in love.....
Isn't it awesome?! I am waiting until tonight and I plan on candling mine here. I have not candled yet. But a glass-fronted incubator and semi-transparent eggboxes = a great thing for me! last year I was forever opening the styro cooler. Now I can just look in (and look-in I DO!)

Re: I'm in love.....
Robin... tragic. Sad. Really girl... GET SOME DIGNITY!!!
I say that after Jerome and I were getting ready to leave for work and he stopped me from looking at the incubator one last time.
Apparently me missing two months from work is NOT OK.
Even though I explained that the eggs may get lonely and my need a hug or a listening to of Donique Nique Nique.
He seems to think they can survive ten hours a day without me sitting next to them piping in lullabies.
Some people!
It really is the best feeling isn't it? I too am completely and ferociously in love with my six blobs of veiny yolk. :)

Yes!
And Oliver's eggs (two clutches) and I took them out today and candled again (day 13 for Winston's clutch and day 11 for Oliver's) and I see little wiggly worms inside them! It's so cool that at this early stage you can see movement!
I fell head over heels in love all over again today - and was going to post about it - so thanks for re-bumping this thread!

You gonna need counseling being away from those eggs for several days
I know my eggs will be the last thing I will check on when I leave and the first thing I check on when I come back (just better not tell my hubby that, he might get jealous ;))

Re: I'm in love.....
Robin nothing wrong with it I promise it just means your in the right hobby. I candled my eggs a day or so ago and got to see little snakes and eyes. I got a couple of lazy ones and a couple of real jumpers. :D
Best of luck and just wait till you can start to see eyes and snake like forms..it only get worse. :D

Re: I'm in love.....

Re: I'm in love.....
You will only be a goof if you decide that you can part with any of them after they hatch. :)

Re: I'm in love.....
"Are you an egg lover too?"
GUILTY! I got busted "borrowing" my hub's little work flashlight last week... I just wanted to see witch one works the best! GOSH! He wouldn't trade either...
Robin, congrats!!!! I can't WAIT to see Winston's littles!!!!! I also get that feeling of complete awe when I stare at those little white lumps... it's truly an amazing process, and I feel blessed being able to watch the events leading up to a little baby's head poking out of it's shell...

Re: I'm in love.....
I am glad I am not the only one. It is SO hard for me to only open my incubator once a week. Shoot I candle them every week and take pictures. Yesterday was so exciting one of the babies responded to the light when I candled. Three weeks till pip. I worry about them all the time.

Re: I'm in love.....
You know...as I prepare myself to possibly think I may one day breed...y'all are making me wanna do it now. Not sure what Im gunna do until I am ready.
*gets an idea*...I'll just make Franky call me every time she is gunna open her incubator...and I'll cuddle hers? HAHA
-
Re: I'm in love.....
I love it! I just love looking in on those happy, healthy eggers. And I am guilty of candling once in awhile too, to see what is going on inside.
