Help someone!? I'm kinda concerned! :/
So iwent tolift the coolside hide box where my ball is usualy and i noticed that his meal, which i fed him on friday doesnt seem to be digested, becasue thee still looks to be like a big lump in his stomach. And its monday now! Shouldnt it be digested after acouple days!? And when i lifted the hide box he wasnt laying in the usual "ball" formation. Most of his body was, bt his head was like laying off to the side, kinda away from his body, didnt seem like he was laying right. I wish i could take pics but my camera is broke :(. Someone help me with this?

What is the ambient temperature in the cage? How are you heating it and what are you measuring it with?

3 flukers digital- coolside ground: 80-81
    warmside ground: 87-89
    ambient: 88-89

1 accurite digital w/probe- probe is under the substrate under the warmside hide and that measures 91.8

    humidity%: 62

Im concerned, when i lifted the coolside hide, he took acouple of minutes and moved over to the warmside hideand is in there now. But i know he will probably eventually move back over to the coolside hide, he usually does.

And im heating it with a 75 watt infared on the warmside which is on 24/7. An undertank heater on the warmside under the hide. And a nightglo 50 watt on a thermastat turned all the way down(just for a lil bit of heat) and thats on the coolside. But that nightglo is usually onlt on at night when the outside temps drop a lil bit.

    Was it f/t??

How big is this tank if you're using all of that to heat it?

Oh and fuzzy mice are much too small for even newly hatched baby Ball Pythons, so I can't see how it was too big for yours unless it weighs 40g. It is possible that it is gas build-up from the digestion process.

I wouldn't worry about it in the absense of other visable issues. Just double check all your temps and be more observant for a while.

Yeah i double checed all the temps and humidit and they are fine. Its funny though, once i lifted the colide hide earlier and he moved over to the warmside hide,nw he's been in the warmside for about an hour. An he's never over there...weird:confused:

I just talked to my reptile vet, and i told him everything that i posted on here, and he said if they were feeding him pinkies all the time and then i fed him one of those white fuzzy mice then he said that his digestion might not be up to par with the slightly bigger mice yet. He said to give it few days and see how it goes.

and gas build up is basically fine, it just means he may be making some gross farty noises soon hee. stinky mouse farts.
And you can probably feed him small adult mice, most ball babies are born big enough to eat full grown mice. pinky mice are a waste of money unless your particular ball is really picky or severly underweight. If his thickest part of his body is about the width of a quarter, he can eat an adult mouse. you can ask them at the store for a smaller one, usually they can accomedate requests.

Sadly from what I've seen a lot of the big chain pet store do. They also tend to sell these new owners a nice bag of f/t mouse pinkies, sending them off believing that's all their young BP needs. :(

Yea i never fed him pinky mice.I fed him an adult fuzzy. But yeah i figured pinkies were too small lol. he seems better now. It's funny though, once cleaned his tank yesterday he moved tote warmside hide and has been there ever since. He was usually in the coolside hide.

An adult fuzzy? It's either an adult mouse or a fuzzy mouse, which is it? There's quite a bit of size difference. Fuzzy mice are reserved for just-hatched, undersized baby Ball Pythons who won't feed on their own or who can't handle a normal sized hopper for their first meal(50g and under usually). If your snake is a healthy juvenile, then go for large hoppers or small adult mice.

Alrighty. If he's been eating pinkies, and now fuzzies.. He's been being grossly underfed. After 2-3 feedings with fuzzy mice, bump him up to at least a large hopper mouse. He's using more energy constricting, swallowing and digesting that fuzzy mouse, than he's getting from it, so he's just going to lose weight and remain small. Yes, their necks may look thin, but he can swallow at least a large hopper, if not a small adult mouse(15-20g at least). Then he can start to GROW :)

Well the vet is the one that told me " the place you bought your python from could have been getting fed pinkies all this time". But i had went and talked to the guy that takes cares of all the reptiles at the pet shop and he said they were feeding him hoppers this whole time. It's my fault because alot got lost in translation, i am new to this whole "understanding the different types of feeder mice" heres what they've been feeding him and this is what i fed him last friday:

it turns out to be a 12 gram hopper, so im sorry about the lil bit of confusion, i was the one who didnt know my stuff..so to speak lol :)

In the post I was referring to it was stated that "THEY" were giving him pinky mice. That would be the person the poster got the snake from, not the original poster. I was not being snide toward anyone. Thanks

Yeah when i first got my bp I fed a pinky once. Then realized that those were just too small and moved to adult mice or rat fuzzies whichever I could readily find. Kinda sad I had a small rtb that I had a pinky/fuzzy mouse for but she didnt eat so i gave it to my 800 gram ball. Sad to say it was kinda funny because she didnt know how to react when she had it in her mouth (she coiled the air) but sad because she ate it alive I wont ever do that again I felt bad afterwards. :(

Damn, that's small. How big is your snake(weight/age)...and I wouldn't really worry about it too much unless he regurges (which is bad)

My snake is about 3 months old, and as for that picture. The mouse i last fed her was about half an inch to three quarters longer than that pic. I was going to post the next biggest mouse after that one i posted but it looked big so i posted this one cuz it looked the closest in size to what i fed her, but what i fed her was a little bit bigger. The mouse i fed her was about 2 3/4 inches long..if that helps at all.
