Babies Dropped off at Fire Station
So Im working overtime today at a different station and I walk in this morning to see a squirrel running around the inside of the station. I find out the crew had went on a call and came back to find a basket with 2 newborn squirrels in it outside the front door. One didnt make it past the first day but one of the firefighters has been hand raising the other for 3 months now. Check out this picture.

so cute! My dad hand-raised a couple baby squirrels. One had been shot by a BB gun (mother was killed) and the other I think was abandoned. They're little thieves but still very loveable!

I've heard of fire dogs, but a fire squirrel? =D

A squirrel would be a great pet to demoesticate, not to mention adorable.

Too cute. I hand raised a baby squirrel a few years back. They are so sweet. Those little claws are sharp though - had to stop wearing shorts around him as he was always climbing up my legs when he got bigger. Ouch.

Wow. I'm going to have to tell Michelangelo, my crested gecko, that he has some competition in the 'cutest thing on earth' department!
Seriously, that was a really nice story. Kudos to your coworker on the rescue.
I've read that squirrels can actually make very good pets if you raise them from infancy. I guess their domesticated cousins, like sugar gliders, prove that point.
Thanks for sharing!
