I love those guys! They're not at all like those "normal colubrids". How many colubrids that are safe and widely available can show cobra-behavior? None of them except the Hognose. Good luck with the "pig-face"!

I miss my hoggie!!! He was such a good snake but some parasite got him before we could save him. I was so sad. I wish I could get another one but there's no room at the inn at the moment. Do you ship your hognose snakes? Or just pick up? Those tricolors are gorgeous. I'd love to have one. ^_^.

Your Hogger's personality sounds just like mine. It seems that ours really want that food... They seem to miss alot because they have this "thought" in their mind that makes them expect the food to flee, so they go faster than they should and therefore, keep on missing (in the wild they eat very fast prey such as frogs).
Personally, I've never owned a boid so I've never witnessed constriction but like most (maybe all, I'm not sure) terrestrial colubrids (some Ratsnakes in my area constrict) they just go for the kill. Your Hogger will probably use the same method repeatedly even as it gets older, just like mine. Post some pics soon so I can determine the brightness of his colors :D.

I've wanted a hoggie for years, and have debated not getting a western so I wouldn't have to deal with a state permit. I like the westerns the best though.

I really think they're neat snakes.
