This weeks episode looks at the start of our colubrid season. Lori explains what our process is for breeding this part of the collection. There's a lot of snakes to breed in the colubrid colony:) As always to watch the show just go to: www.youtube.com/snakebytestv Please subscribe, comment and rate the vid ( it really helps). I love how she uses the markers! Great idea!

So, when Lori marks the back of the male, does the marker seep through the skin? It's probably non-toxic marker, but, ya know, curious minds....!

    Re: SnakeBytesTV
No, the marker stays on the scales 100%. When they shed you would never know they had a mark. That's one of the things that we always battle with, when a males shed I have to go back through and mark them again so Lori know what's what:) Good question though, Brian(BHB)

Very interesting Brian I have purchased a few animals that have had the paint marks on them and found out from breeders that they use that to determine which animals are sold or hold backs out of import shipment. :D

Great episode I have never been a big collubrid fan but you sure have some nice looking snakes. Makes a guy want to switch gears.

Question for you: What would you say the major differences are in breeding balls versus breeding colubrids?

    Re: SnakeBytesTV
The biggest difference is the time that it takes to breed them. Colubrids are super quick, you can miss them if you blink an eye. Ball Pythons happen over months, so you have time to really get it right. From the start of the colubrid breeding until the first eggs is less then two months. The first couple weeks being super important. So I guess it's just really staying on top of them a lot more then Ball Pythons. More poop too:) Brian(BHB)
