    Babies everywhere!!!!!
Well hes the story. About 6 months ago I found a praying mantis at work me being a geek took it home and kept it as a pet. I had "Larry" for a while and he was doing great until he laid 5 clusters of eggs. lol. Soo larry is a she. ok well sadly larry finally passed and I was left with eggs I put them in a small plastic container with an open top thinking they would never hatch anyways so I put them in th e garage. Well about a month ago I happened to be in the garage and noticed this little tiny Larry in the container and was shocked I had no idea they hatched. WEll thinking that he was either the only survivor or the only one stupid enough not to escape I brought him in my room where he has been living. Well about 20 minutes ago I noticed something walking on my desk and turned on the light to see what it was. TO my surprise it was another larry. When I was trying to capture him/her I found another then another then another. So far I have found about 25. No idea how many i have missed or how many have made it to freedom outside. but this is just weird. All I can say is atleast they are cool bugs. here are a few pics if anyone cares. lol.

Their mom "Larry" was really cool she would take crickets outta my hand and man she was a eater. Now I know why keep in mind she was named before I knew her sex lol. Cant wait to see some of them grow up I am going to have to separate them soon they are cannibalistic.

Very cool! Are you planning on letting the little 'Larrys' go or are they going to live a pampered lifestyle at casa de trogdor?

I love mantis'. We had one that lived in hour tree out side our front door. She actually jumped out of it one day and landed on me. Scared the living daylights out of me.

I fed her crickets too. Never saw any babies though!

Well I set all of those baby mantids(sp) free last night in my yard by some weeds that have lots of aphids so they will have food. Heres the bad news when I got home the yard had been mowed :( Highly unlikly that anything in there would survive. Poor things I should have left then im my room. :(:(

    Re: Babies everywhere!!!!!
    Oh no! :tears:

I'm sure some of the babies would have moved off that patch of weeds to other places, so some should have survived. You may have a nice mantis colony in your yard yet.

My grandma had a pair way back when. They mated and had babies. She didn't think it was a big deal until they hatched and she had a hundred or so babies crawling around her apartment EVERYWHERE. She just kept finding more and more, and didn't want to kill the babies of her pets, so she lived with a praying mantis infestation for ages. We still laugh at her for it.
