Re: Babies everywhere!!!!!
Their mom "Larry" was really cool she would take crickets outta my hand and man she was a eater. Now I know why keep in mind she was named before I knew her sex lol. Cant wait to see some of them grow up I am going to have to separate them soon they are cannibalistic.
Re: Babies everywhere!!!!!
They are some cool little ones :gj:.When i was a kid i made wire cage like things and actually had a few females(aka larry's lol) lay some egg sacks.I left them inside then placed them in my garden area and never had any bug problems
Re: Babies everywhere!!!!!
yeah they usually have around 100 babies. do you know what species it is? or have a pic of "larry"
Re: Babies everywhere!!!!!

Re: Babies everywhere!!!!!
no only brownish tan no green and its wings if thats what they are where about a 1/3 that size and were reddish when she would get angry and raise them up.
Re: Babies everywhere!!!!!
Awww...it's like Charlotte.
Re: Babies everywhere!!!!!
Very cool! Are you planning on letting the little 'Larrys' go or are they going to live a pampered lifestyle at casa de trogdor?
Re: Babies everywhere!!!!!
well found another 18 larry's when I got home today I se them free in the back yard hopefully I can start a breeding colony in my yard that would be awesome.
Re: Babies everywhere!!!!!
I love mantis'. We had one that lived in hour tree out side our front door. She actually jumped out of it one day and landed on me. Scared the living daylights out of me.
I fed her crickets too. Never saw any babies though!
Re: Babies everywhere!!!!!
hopefully setting soo many free in such a small area they might stick around and breed here.
Re: Babies everywhere!!!!!
Well I set all of those baby mantids(sp) free last night in my yard by some weeds that have lots of aphids so they will have food. Heres the bad news when I got home the yard had been mowed :( Highly unlikly that anything in there would survive. Poor things I should have left then im my room. :(:(
Re: Babies everywhere!!!!!
Oh no! :tears:
I'm sure some of the babies would have moved off that patch of weeds to other places, so some should have survived. You may have a nice mantis colony in your yard yet.
Re: Babies everywhere!!!!!
My grandma had a pair way back when. They mated and had babies. She didn't think it was a big deal until they hatched and she had a hundred or so babies crawling around her apartment EVERYWHERE. She just kept finding more and more, and didn't want to kill the babies of her pets, so she lived with a praying mantis infestation for ages. We still laugh at her for it.
