    White Spot
My pastel has developed a small patch of completely white scales on his side near his mid-section. What is this?

I don't know how it could be a scar because he never hurt himself in that spot. Plus, it grows every time he sheds. I'll be putting pics up in a few minutes.

Sure it didnt already have it and you never noticed. I would say if the scales look healthy and it doesnt look infected I wouldnt worry.

Paradox is simply the opposite of normal.

So on an albino, paradox is black. On a Black Eyed Leucistic it is the Fire (Het form) leaking through. Etc, etc.

I doubt that the white spot on the side is paradox, but if it looks healthy I would say dont worry too much.

A few possibilities--an unknown genetic aberration. A manifestation of IMG (increasing melanin gene), or simply some underlying injury that resulted in the destruction of color in that area. It doesn't look serious at all.

It doesn't look like a paradox phenomenon. Paradox APPEARS to be the result of chimerism, and the animal should show more patches if that were the case.

Do paradox spots come and go with shedding or are they permenent? ANd are they from birth or can they be aquired?

The paradox "spots" on paradox animals are there when the snakes hatch and they are permenant.
