It's an umbilical cord. Previously connecting the wee one to the network of blood vessels and yolk in the egg.

Yolk Belly is the fat gut (visible above the belly button) where the little kid has absorbed a belly full of yolk that will serve it well until the first shed and feed.

Cool pic, I have never seen a BP's umbilical cord before. Do you have to cut it off or does it come off by itself? Also, I'm assuming it heals on its own into that little jagged line that forms the belly button?
