My IJ's

Re: My IJ's
Very nice IJs! I love the color on your male, he's stunning!
Looks like Peggy Sue is catching up with him, too.

Re: My IJ's
the first picture he looks mad LOL

Re: My IJ's
Wow your female is super bright!
Seein the pure IJ's makes me wish my IJ was pure

Re: My IJ's
Where did you pick up your male from?? Was he sold to you as an IJ?
-
Re: My IJ's
I got him from Steve Markevich at Serpent's Den. He told me that he is pure and came from Bushmaster/VPI lineage. He also told me that he came from the same sire & dam that produced Yasser's Proteus, Syrin and Pandora. What do you see in him that makes you ask? It's not the first time someone has questioned him, but I do believe Steve told me the truth and I do believe he is pure IJ.

Re: My IJ's
Peggy Sue is from Striking Serpents, a Fluke/Goldeneye girl.
Thanks for the comments, he's not mad in the first pic, quite happy actually, he just finished swallowing a nice rat!
Part of the reason I like him so much is that he is so dark, like a mahogany chocolate.

I am familiar with Yasser's animals. There is just something in the pattern of your male that just screams out at me and is why I questioned.

Striking Serpents produced some very nice IJ's. I have a pair from the Sonny/Nyoka clutch.

His bands are very heavy and dark, more so than most that I have seen anyway. His 'base' color has a bit of an olive hue to it too, doesn't show up well in pics but it's there, especially around shed time. I know you are familiar with Yasser's snakes, that's why I mentioned it...you are familiar with a lot and I certainly value your opinion and comments. Thank you :)

Re: My IJ's
do you have websites for either of those breeders? I'm looking to get some IJ soon and not sure who to buy from yet.

I don't know about the first person but I can tell you that Striking Serpents is no more. Jaremy sold off most of his animals and isn't breeding right now.
A lot of us have offspring from the Sonny/Nyoka clutch and the GoldenEye/Fluke clutch. If you don't happen to get one soon, I'm sure that some of these will be big enough and breeding by next year.
If you're looking for quality IJs you won't go wrong with any of Mike Pennell's. I'm still trying to figure out where to put a few IJs from him.

Re: My IJ's
I actually just emailed him about getting a pair. Just waiting for a response.

If you have no reason to question that the breeder was not telling you the truth, then you probably have an IJ. It is just the fact that there is and will be more IJ jag sibs floating around that will get misrepresented and I would hate for someone to think they have a "pure" IJ only to find out that they have a cross or "mutt", if you will.
I actually saw an IJ posted for sale on KS that was in fact a coastal cross.

Re: My IJ's
and then there's a certain well known breeder whose animals spontaneously change from coastal morph to wild caught irian jaya...
