Lost a friend!!
Her name was Country, she wasn't special to most people, but my friend. She was a rescue taken in by my sister after her owner had died. You couldn't ride her, but she taught me so much about handling horses, especially bull headed ones!! We had many stand-offs out in the pasture. Wondering who would come out the so called winner!! Not really a competition but a lesson in patience and will power more than anything. I regret not spending more time with her, but after losing my own horse, my heart wasn't in it.
She will be missed!!:(

Re: Lost a friend!!
Thanks everyone. It was a sad and happy day. Today we buried Country, and today was the day that my Joshua was delivered. I'll post a pic of him on another thread. So strange to have a new friend come in while grieving another. An absolute emotional rollercoaster. I had origanally planned on them being pasture buddies. Life takes some strange twists.

Re: Lost a friend!!
Heartfelt sympathies to you Blu!!!!
Losing a friend (no matter WHAT kind) is ALWAYS sooooooo hard, but with a horse, there's just something that's just a little "more" that makes it harder.
Remember the good times.
 and prayers to you for comfort.

Re: Lost a friend!!
Aw; sorry for your loss. I definately think that the stubborn horses have the most to teach us. Not like the aggressive ones; they are merely fighting for dominance. Not like the subservient, dull ones; they are already plodding through life without being much of a challenge. But those stubborn gals (I say gals; usually the ones I have known were mares, though my friend's donkey gelding is similar.) They are the real horses that train us.
Can't wait to see pics of the new arrival..

Re: Lost a friend!!
Thanks everyone. Horses seem to be such a part of us once we know them. And as far as the new boy is concerned, he has settled in as if he has always lived here. He looks so at home!!:)
