my bp likes to make me nervous

not a question but i just wanted to share this.well my fear of him is almost all gone but my bp just likes to rub his head and the side of it on my fingers when i have him out.he doesnt do it for long just enough to make me nervous.i wonder does anyone elses do this?

He is doing that so he knows he is secure while moving around the human "tree" if you will and not fall off :P.If he was going to bite you he would not hesitate ;)

i didnt think he would but still makes wierds me out a little lol

Hello, I'm not a expert like some guys on here, however 2 years ago when I first got into snakes I was still nervous around them because lack of knowledge about them"believe it or not even my corn snake made me nervious 2 years ago lol" however now Im the opposite, instead of being nervous, I want to start breeding and I want to work with bigger snakes! Trust me, you'll get over the nerves, and if you don't then maybe you should try a display snake =)

LMAO! Yea i will admit sometimes certain snakes make anyone nervous :D.I had a 13ft retic that made me VERY nervous whenever i had her out :oops:.

yea im at the point now where im planning to build a rack and breed bps.still not sure about bigger snakes but my bp is so calm hes really been a great first snake to have and to get used too.he never hissed or struck at me at all and i never felt like he would but just when he rubs his head on my fingers it get me thinking lol

You should enjoy this! I love it when my BP puts his head anywhere on me. One of my females is normally very head shy, so when she rubs it against my hand or face and doesn't get scared, I love it.

I used to have a 4 year old female ball python that liked to rub her face on my cheek and rest her head on my nose. It was the most unusual thing. To this day I still don't know why she did it, but every time I had her out, without fail, she would do it.

And this was my first snake, given to me at that size. So I was pretty nervous myself. :P

My first ball python made me nervous. Mainly because he was my first snake, and even though he was in a tight ball in my hand he was going to somehow bite me:D Once I sorta got used to them the nervousness went away, but I did get pretty scared once when I was holding my friends ball and the next thing I know his head was level with my head and he licked me nose:P how wrong did that sound?

we are in the same boat my friend.befor a few weeks ago i was always fasinated with snakes but deathly affraid.i went ahead and bought a bp anywho though.but wen i take him out he/she does the same thing.almost like its itching its nose on your fingers.i like how he/she does it but i try to be so still my hand jerks.doesnt seem to affect the snake though.

I got my first snake when he was tiny, and he was in a tank right next to an 8 foot burm... it made me feel a lot safer knowing my snake was so little, that even if he struck he couldn't do major damage. i found the best way to let him relax when I was holding him was to just forget he was there. Now, when i have him out, he just goes up around my neck immediatly, into my hair or down my spine. it's cute and I have to remember not to lean back if he's there.

My friend is deathly afraid of snakes, but has no problem with my Bobo, even asks to hold him. But the first time she saw pictures of hadiya she told me she never wanted to hold her. She and I have talked about her getting a snake. and in a few years, when i have a breeding pair that i'm not rehabilitating, She is thinking of having me teach her how to set up a tank and feed and such so she can have a snake of her own. Figures that if she starts with a hatchling, and it grows up with her, she won't be so afraid. And it will be her snake that she knows.

yea i figured i would get used to him as he got bigger too.im not really scared of him i take him out all the time but the face rubbing is going to take some time to get used too lol.

If your snake wanted to bite ya, he'd be inches away in the "S" position.. so if he's directly rubbing his face on your hands, take it as a really good sign that he's just comfortable with you. :gj:

My girl is one of the least head-shy BPs i've ever encountered, so I really had no choice but to learn to like her boldness. She is constantly coming right up to my face and has a tendency to give me snakey kisses on my nose. You eventually learn to love it, i promise! :)

I'm like a lot like that..I have always been in love with snakes but never had one. So I finally convinced my boyfriend to get me one for my birthday! He's beautiful and I've had him for a few months but don't get to handle him as often as I wish. I'm afraid he won't be able to get used to me so I'm always pretty nervous whenever I hold him and he gets out of his "ball".
Should I not be uncomfortable when he starts to explore around my arm and sticking his tongue out? I get nervous when he stares at me, too lol

mine never balled up but i just started handling for 2 to 3 mins then i just kept adding time. ill keep him out for 10 mins almost daily.helped me and him alot.
