    preparing for summer
i dont have air conditioning in my house so in the summer it gets pretty hot in here. its easy to keep up the heat in the winter to heat up the hot side but how would i keep the cool side cold in the summer? any suggestion? i do plan on turning off all the heating stuff. but any suggestions on having a temp diffrence?

Put the cage on the floor in the lowest part of the house? If you're that worried about it, you could get an IR thermometer and take readings throughout your home during different times of the day. Do this regularly and keep notes. You'll soon find the best place to keep your cage. If you have a choice between too cool and too hot, go with too cool. If you don't have access to reliable climate control, You have to get creative.

You should probably try to find a room that doesn't have any windows, so you don't get any greenhouse effect. Maybe a closet or even the bathroom.

We've had some pretty warm weather around here the last few days, and I've been having a heck of a time adjusting my dimmer switches. I haven't had any changes of more than 2-3 degrees, but it seems almost constant. I need a thermostat :(

How hot does it get in ontario during summer? Unless its getting 90 degrees F in your house you should be fine.

I love my thermostat, get one and no more dimmer switch play!

Oh man I hate dimmers... I also just got my ranco and it sure lifts a burden. I have a raised 40 watt lamp keeping my warm side around 84 right now, but I shut it off during the day because its warm enough without it. The UTH is still needed on the warm side though (on the ranco). I'm in the country and my carpets are right on frezzing concrete, so summer in Ontario (at my house) is not that hot. But in the city, I was boiling a few summers ago so I can understand the possiblity of too hot weather.
