Class Project-help with fun facts
I have a class project/speech to give on Thursday for my Honors Seminar.
It is a class about creativity, so I came up with a game that very young kids can play that involves reducing irrational fear of traditionally scary animals like harmless snakes, bats etc. The list could go on and on.
So here's what I need help with. Part of the game involves fun facts about the animal to increase knowledge.
I am using a ball python as my example animal prototype.
So I would like to put together a list of fun facts about balls that are good for very young children. They would go something like:
"Did you know that ball pythons are not poisonous and cannot eat you?"
Very simple stuff like that to dispel fear and increase knowledge!
Thanks in advance!
Re: Class Project-help with fun facts
Here you go...
1. Ball pythons are secretive and naturally shy.
2. They got the name Ball from rolling their bodies into a protective Ball when frightened.
3. Ball Pythons are more active at night.
4. Ball pythons eat rodents that could be destructive to the environment if overpopulated.
Hope this helps
Re: Class Project-help with fun facts
Unlike Tiggers, ball pythons do NOT bounce.
Re: Class Project-help with fun facts
Thanks guys, that does help a lot!
Re: Class Project-help with fun facts
African royalty is said to have worn living ball pythons as jewelery or accessories; hence their "other" name of Royal pythons.

That's interesting. I have never heard that. Where did you learn this?

When I got my first ball python back in the 6th grade (1986) I had a little book about them that mentioned it.
Since then I've seen it in a lot of places - books, online, interviews, etc

Re: Class Project-help with fun facts
-Ball pythons have been known to go for up to 2 years without eating.
-Female ball pythons will coil around their eggs until they hatch.
-Ball pythons have two little spurs which are the remnants of where their legs used to be.
-Ball pythons come in many different exciting colors.
-Ball python females get significantly larger than males.

Re: Class Project-help with fun facts
ball pythons, like all snakes, have no eyelids like you and me and so they can't blink!
Re: Class Project-help with fun facts
Thanks for all of the good stuff guys! My project is gonna rock!
Re: Class Project-help with fun facts
-Ball pythons use the tip of their tail like a finger, gripping objects very securely.
-Ball pythons have little pits in the front of their mouth called "heat pits" which help them sense their prey.
-Ball pythons can be trained to eat frozen and then thawed prey. This is both convenient for keepers and safer for the snake.
